I disagree. Unless someone pulls out in the halves how can you justify Jake Arthur over Nathan Brown, Cartwright, Rodwell or Mitch Rein?

It is clear nepotism and I fear Jake Arthur may be exposed like a 🇵🇹 🍗

That was very clever Portuguese flag and a chicken drumstick. Your far smarter then I thought.

There's 240 minutes worth of 3 middle forwards. Paulo and RCG you'd hope play 50 minutes each, this week they'll probably play 60 each given the opposition. There's 100-120 of the 240. Matto will hopefully play 70-80. There's 170-200. Between Niukore, Kaufusi, and Makatoa we have to find 40-70 minutes. Our middle forwards are covered for minutes. Jake isn't taking minutes away from Brown or Rodwell.

Rein had his best game for a while in reserves last week but when he's been in first grade he's come up with some crucial errors. Carty had a good opening to the season in attack but has been poor the past month or so. All of the "utility" players, I'm also including Perham and Opacic in this, have their strengths and weaknesses for being picked in the first grade team.

Imagine if we had four middle forwards on the bench. That's 34 minutes each for them plus the three starters. If the starters only played 40 minutes the benchies would still only average 30 minutes each.

I could understand if JA gets put in if Moses or Dylan go down. Can’t believe that he gets selected on the bench. Brown & Carty much better options. Nepotism at its best. Coach has to go. At least his management see the writing on the wall.

it must be said that outside of Marata there arent any edge forwards in our team that can be kicked out into the centres. Guys like Lane and Ice are far more suited to prop than centre. I guess the idea of having JA there is that you can kick Dyl out into the centres incase of multiple HIAs.

Still in my mind Tom Opacic is the better option.

Maybe your right/ maybe your wrong.

Either way I will be cheering the f**k out of our team and JA if he comes on for 3 mins.

I don’t post to prove I’m right or wrong. I post because I have a passion for the eels.

But Good for you cheering on JA.

As a fan and member I’d really like to know what the reasoning is behind Bryce/ja/oppa/Roswell/brown team selections are. But as a realist I know I’m asking too much.

When has any club given reasoning for any team selection?

This might be true but what does JA offer? That's the point isn't it? To say others haven't been great is fine. But JA has hardly been setting g the world on fire either. And how does 10 mins in NRL help develop him? I'd rather Rein only get 15min stint.

I can excuse Jake being in the team - he's 19, and still growing, and learning.

But as for Makatoa...honest toiler, with no real growth; at 28, he won't improve much, if at all.

I just don't see why Arthur keeps playing Makatoa ahead of Rodwell - they perform similarly, but Rodwell has far more room for growth.

FYI Carty still appears on the injury list, so his selection this week is to make up the mandatory NRL numbers. BA has said he did that a few months ago. Nrown is on the outer for the time being or have you been away ?
