I played football (I refuse to call it soccer), and rugby league, as a 17-year old.


My football coach talked tactics - the LCB is slow to turn, so play balls behind him, the keeper loves to rush off his line, so chip him, etc.

My league coach literally just said, "Tackle hard, run harder."

Nah I picked him after one game but. Imagine they asked me to keep an eye in Murchie or Moimesea? What did the pigeons think. I also stated Moimesea was a flop after the trials. Any fool could see how small his calves where. Never going to make it

I don't mind Russel. I like in defense he took a few steps back when attack was coming at him to reduce the overlap. Thats a guy with attention to detail and focus.

Sivo and Waqa just take the bait every f**king time and rush up.
Simmonsons defense at centre has so far also been surprisingly very good.

I actually think we have worked on our D and changed it. We slide ok now and pick the time to rush better.
I dont know if thats better tactics or better player decisions.
Alot of our conceded tries seem to be more through the middle/edge of us ... as opposed to always running round us.

Yep. Still soft in the middle and let teams march up the field more than we used to, but we seem to be better defending in our own 20m. Of course I have no stats to back this up, because stats are worthless.

Definitely been working on our slide.
It is pretty normal for Sivo to come and try and smash the centre (and stop the ball going wider) and he does this knowing that there is going to be cover on the wing he just left - and most of the time there is.
