Price clearly doesn't understand that the team needs to gel from round one, fien is clearly NOT the answer...

Price has now lost my complete support..

Especially if Dugan and Ferguson are out...

forgive my cynicism, but I truly believe Canberra could stand down all first grade players and field a reserve team and they'd still beat us down there. *sighs* glad to get this game out of the way early in the season.

I'd give anything to see King in the halves and Fien in the bench hooker rotation (if that) I like your side though Cagey :) How much do you reckon you'd ask to coach us ;)

Wouldn't be a bad option either IMO. King has all the attributes to be a good 7. He can pass, Kick, Take the line on and has good vision. An extra yard in pace and I rekon he'd be a cracker half.

Let's not forget Cooper Cronk was moulded into a 7.

Will Price have the stones to try King at 7? Probably not.

The thing I don't get with Price is, if he is serious about getting an extension of his contact and building a team toward some sought of future. Then where is the sense in playing Fien at 7 (if at all)?? Even if Fien somehow manages to string a few good games together, it does not help in building for the future! ](*,) He has a great opportunity early on to set us up for a solid season. We are not seriously going to be able to challenge for the title in 2013 imo, so lets start building for 2014 by...

A) Starting with Drinkwater@ 7 using King as that "triangle" utility roll in taking some pressure off the lad.
B) Start with King and Soward in the halves bringing Drinkwater on after the Venom is taken out of the opposing pack (say after 25 mins) benching either King or Rein.
C) King and Soward in the halves and Fien on the hooker rotation.
D) Continue to do this ](*,)](*,)](*,)

tumbidragon D) looks like the most likely option.

This is Price we are talking about, who learned from his little faux pars last season, only to forget them during the off season, and thereby go through the whole process all over again.

But your point raises a very salient issue, even if Fein has an absolute blinder on this coming friday night, where to from there? There is simply no logic, nor rationale in persisting with Fein long term. But Price will do it, because Price is Price.

What I don't get is the fact that no one, not one single person can honestly say that we will compete well with Fien at 7.... So why is he there, if we are rebuilding, lets rebuild... Having a guy in his last year in the nrl is not rebuilding!!

We brought Drinkwater for a reason and with Kyle Stanley out now is the time to show some trust in a young kid and give him his break, let him go out there and see if he has it in him, there is nothing to lose all to gain.

Price probably has half a season to get some wins, so he will be thinking short-term....

I always hope that Price knows better than us mugs, but I still think its ridiculous that one of Quinlan or King arent playing alongside Drinkwater for the Cutters at 6&7, so that we have some options if Soward/Fein dont make it, but perhaps its a political issue, showing a lack of faith in Sowie in particular.

I'd say that the team that I named has at least 50% chance of taking the field
I can't wait to see
That would be Drinkwater for Fein
Vidot for Chase unless Frizell is injured
If so Vidot for him and Green for Chase

I understand that my following comment will bring a tirade of abuse from my fellow Dragon supporters on this forum; and let me be clear...I love the Dragons....BUT I want us flogged on Friday night and then flogged the following week, and then the week after that so the Board of Directors will be forced to sack Price. Serving up Nathan Fien as the half -back again this week is depressing. I am even having trouble watching this kid Price lead our great club. This is not a bloody work experience placement. Now I will retreat under the table and wait for the bombs to land around me!

Bombs cause collateral damage . Why punish innocents for the pure merkiness of one individual? I'd rather just kick you in the nuts.

Well I can't wait for Friday night! It has seemingly been an eternity since our last home game, and I love returning to my comfy little reserved seat at both grounds, amongst the same friendly familiar faces. Autumn's a lovely time of year, so what better way to spend an evening can there be than dining al fresco on a hot dog, sipping a beer, hearing the cheers, jeers and tears of the crowd, and watching the Saints run around again. Ahh the tender trap

Agreed, it's not a work experience placement. Neither is the half back position, but plenty here wanted to see a kid thrown in at halfback last Sunday so he could be taught every lesson in the book in 80 minutes! The club clearly sees him as needing time in the Cutters to get his game, particularly his defensive game, in order.

Price had 3 years as assistant under Bennett, coached a Dragons youth side to a title, and is now just starting his 2nd season as the senior coach, having missed the 8 in in his 1st season by one spot. I'd hardly call that a work experience placement.

Maybe on the menu but IMO won't be served. I hope I'm right

Nice summary. The thought process behind some other posts seem ridiculous.
