If Moylan can't get on the field in the next few weeks they dead set need to medically retire him. What a massive waste of cap space he's been.

not only is it a cap space waste but it also effects the rest of the squad.
People bag Chad but is he has missed 1 game in years.
He is not great he is not shit.
(Clearly slower on the weekend.)
If I was coach I’d be keeping him around for that reason alone.
Moylan is good , SJ is good but they are always injured.
You cannot base any sort of season around them.

Yep, the best teams in the comp usually have a strong correlation with the least number of players used.

for sure.

when you are winning you normally spend most of the game attacking and flattening duds (us).

from mistakes comes defense, more def, more tired you get, injuries etc blah blah you get the idea.

Johnson's biggest asset was always how quick off the mark he was, could step around 10 players and score without a hand getting laid on him. The injuries have taken that speed away and we're left with what we see now unfortunately. And we pay moylan huge money to sit on the sideline and watch, no wonder the team looks spoon bound.

So why was Nene not named in the squad? He is at the club and in all training photos. Is he suspended or something else?

I was loving Tobys work in the first 15 last week.
A running lock. Wayne pearce. Clyde.
Mobile and hitting blokes in D and then putting hand up to take ut into 3 defenders - a huge workrate.

Hes then replaced - with us in front - and not seen again for most of the game...so lm figuring hes injured himself.

He then comes back with 15 to go when the game is done. And dusted.

Now hes on the bench.

Bomber. Youre the boss.
But you either are clueless. Or listening to people who have other agendas.

I thought he had too many eggs in the basket from the start last week.
Woods Fif and Toby all started didn’t they?
that left Ham and who ??Sorensen, Williams?
It felt a bit unbalanced experience wise ....
I’m probably totally wrong.

As mentioned match fitness. Goodwin has atleast been training with an NRL squad so is as ready as someone can be without playing.

Nene hasn't been. Bomber said it might take a few weeks to get him up to NRL fitness. Though if he's not that bad, and since he is playing wing after all it might be sooner if our wingers keep playing like spuds.

i do like Ronnie and Nene on the wings.

I was thinking much the same thing and you could see the bigger Stains forwards gain ascendancy. I hope a lesson has been learned.

No, I think you are right. I said weeks ago this side is unbalanced in the context of the rule changes.

It's not mobile enough and the key players don't seem to have adapted yet. Maybe they are all just dumb. Coach included.

Spine
Brailey is not playing the game 2020 style. Not running. Not kicking. He looks pedestrian at best.
Townsend is too slow for 2020ball. You need a running half.
Johnson IMO is trying to hard to bring the side into 2020. He leads the league for try assists. He's not my favourite but he is wearing criticism which should be directed elsewhere.
Kennedy. I've gone right off him. Had high hopes but He's a real nowhere man, Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans for nobody
. Got nuffin'.

Second rowers. Wade will have good games every now and then but that style of second rower is gone. Look at the top 8 teams. Most are using tall rangy, running back rowers. There is the odd ball player still playing second row at some places. We don't need a ball playing second rower out near the centres. The spine has changed. You can include 13 as a spine player now. Wade should be 13. Nikora doesn't run straight anymore. Shit, he barely gets the ball. and then he still wants to try the same old line from his rookie year. Our 2 locks, Willy Wonka and Toby Rudolf are props. They play like props.

Props, too slow and immobile especially laterally. I shudder to think what happens when we play the Roosters, Eels, Rabbits if Latrell keeps improving. Any team that has a fullback that can play the guts off mobile props, the 5th Spine (lock) or halves and hookers that attack the line.

The centre position is evolving fast as well. The position will become glamorous again if the free flow is allowed to develop. I like Ramien per se but not the way he's playing. He's just a battering ram. Not much finesse. Some finesse, but not much. Dugan still giving his all but his style is superseded as well. He's only run for 286 metres in 3 games.

Wingers. Not doing the job. Mulitano gets a lot of plaudits yet he has only run for 270 metres in 4 games.
Katoa at least in the top 20 for running meters but they might count the circles he runs in.

The work of the back 5 diminished on past years. Yeah, different personal but some are vaunted as elite. Maybe just ineffective.

Top 4 teams back 5's metres gained
Eels 3316 metres
Raiders 2847
Storm 2781
Knights 3137
Panthers 3473
Roosters 4358
Sea Eagles 2675
Cowboys 2725

Sharks 2357. Would seem on raw numbers that this isn't too bad when comparing to the others but look at the gun teams. Averaging under 500 metres a game for the back 5 won't even get a team in the semis IMO

This squad is not 2020 material. Nor is the game plan. I'm strapping in for the 10 year rebuild

Well put together post.
My two favourite non Shark players, hell they may as well be my faves straight up at this point, are Cam Murray and Victor Radley. Both suited perfectly for this new game.
Oh and Brandon Smith because he is an animal.

Must have been tempting to put him in there though. Id rather an unfit Nene than a fit Hiroti any day of the week.

Ronnie and Nene on the wings will be good, as long as they stay on their man (cough cough, Katoa) they will ragdoll most other wingers in the comp.
