Tigers looked pretty good v Souths.

This is a really important match and we are playing in bloody Wellington.

Not sure if we have any injuries. Matulino, perhaps? Do we change a winning lineup? I'd probably make a few changes.

1- Tomkins
2- Laumape
3- Nielsen
4- Ropati
5- Vatuvei
6- Leuluai/Townsend
7- Johnson
8- Rapira
9- Friend
10- Matulino/Gubb
11- Bakuya
12- Mannering
13- Lousi

Res- Lillyman, Matagi, Mateo, Hurrell

TL should slot right back in at 6

When is Locke back? I know it's been mentioned many times but I'm looking forward to seeing
1 Locke
6 Tomkins
7 Johnson
9 Leuluai

14 Friend

Didnt Locke do an ACL or something?

I think we will mostly likely see

1. Tomkins
6. Townsend
7. Johnson
9. Friend

14. Leuluai

for the rest of the year if injuries permit.

Fresh dummy halves might do us a world of good, Friendy can do some more quality running from DH

After some unusual bench interchanges which actually worked, we have a range of possibilities.

Friend's service seemed better, particularly in the first half... though he still didn't run the ball.
Townsend and Johnson both had solid games in my opinion... Chownsend probably earning himself a reprieve for at least one more round?
Tomkins hasn't yet found his groove but he must be persisted with at the back. He and Fish should get in extra high ball practice together.

Rapira and Lillyman were simply outstanding, Matagi his usual solid self and Matulino hopefully won't be out with concussion issues.
Players who still need to step up IMO are Mateo (rediscover his actual role), Bukuya (running game in particular), and Sione Lousi still needs to build match fitness.

Our outside backs all showed defensive and handling flaws with the possible exemption of Vatuvei who didn't do much wrong. Fish + Ropo + Bukuya need to work on their collective defence. It seems a basic cutout play can leave our wingers having to sprint out 10-15 metres and attempt an unlikely tackle.

Hurrell is a really murky one. Amazing impact when he hit the field, but he then went missing after 10 or so minutes and seemed to be hiding out wide looking utterly spent. I would not be comfortable selecting him as a centre for the full 80 yet, as much as I want to.

1 Tomkins
2 Fish
3 Ropati
4 Hurrell
5 Vatuvei
6 Townsend
7 Johnson
8 Rapira
9 Friend
10 Matulino (Gubb if injured)
11 Bukuya (needs to communicate with Ropo and Fish)
12 Mannering
13 Lousi

14 Leuluai
15 Laumape
16 Lillyman
17 Matagi

I really believe Hurrell needs a carrot dangled in front of him to motivate the guy to get back to shape / form. He gets the start, with Laumape also given a chance off the bench. This leaves us short a second rower, but Hurrell can go for a jog there while Laumape comes into centre. We went just fine without a 4th prop for most of last night's game.

Nielsen is a decent defender but with Mannering on that edge I see no need for a defensive specialist. I'd much rather have the extra threat of a Laumape / Hurrell. Between the two of them we should get an 80 minute performance and the extra space this will create for Manu could prove invaluable.

Leuluai to spell Friend after 20 or into the halves should one of them not fire.

They went to Townsville and won, if the same side is available then I'll be giving the same side an opportunity once again.

They weren't perfect but they went over as underdogs and got the job done.

Yeah if it ain't broke why fix it?

Must be hard playing at frigging midnight but they did very well, 27 degrees and 80% humidity.

I think there is a need for a defensive centre on that side because as soon as he went off they scored and went very close a second time nearly winning the game. Konrad reads are so poor as well as his fitness. Played better in the forwards than centre.

Same team.

If injuries heal up then Locke > Fish and TL > Townsend.
Townsend a tad unlucky but surplus to requirements and not interested in Fish.

I'd be keeping Townsend in the 17 even is TL is ready...

One from the bench, a spell at hooker...

FMD this comp is hard to get a line on, who knows what will happen against the Tigers!

What about Nielson cramping up? Arn't these blokes supposed to be fit? He offers ZERO in attack. Will he ever give the ball to Manu...ever?

Fatty Feleti is still appearing to go the miles, but "Hands-on-knees Hurrell" is good for 10 minutes and a try. But they all look far less fit than they should.

Townsend deserved another chance. If he goes missing in defence he can go to reserves. But his direction was good last game.

Gubb should be fit and he offers maybe more in defence than Matelino but less in attack. Though Gubby can motor.

Ropati didn't do much wrong. The Fish and Manu appear to both be horrible defenders.

Same side for mine. If Tommy is fit then he might come in for Hurrell, but i'd be tempted to play him for 80 minutes in the reserves.

Like a lot of coaches, Elliot has a team he thinks will get results, rarely do they stray from it.

Perhaps TL in if fit, off the bench, been a while since he had a run.

Lillyman ran 180m off the bench, he will stay, I am guessing Matagi will miss out.

Being fit doesn't mean you don't cramp up. Changes in temperature can do it, dehydration, underlying health issues..........

It was midnight so fatigue would've been a factor.

Gee there is a lot of Nielsen hate going on. How has Ropati been any different? yet he didn't do much wrong? Nielsen 8 runs for 60 m, Ropati 7 runs for 39m, both received 11 times.

Townsend went pretty good v Cowboys. My fear is that he will have a pattern. Great/good for 1 game. Crap/bad/average for 2-3
