Team v Titans

Titans lost to the Roosters by 8 points a few weeks ago, and 2 weeks earlier pumped the Tigers, who beat the competition leaders last week....

It depends what Warriors team turns up. The one who turned up against the Panthers will lose against the Titans, but the team who turned up against the Storm should win comfortably.

But come on guys, if you've supported the Warriors for more than one season you should know that there's no sure thing in the NRL, especially when supporting the Warriors...

In other news...

"Referee Gavin Reynolds and touch judge Ricky MacFarlane were dropped for the errors in the Raiders' controversial 28-24 loss, while State of Origin whistleblower Gerard Sutton has been assigned to a lower-profile match.

The game's No.1 referee, who was the lead whistleblower in all three Origin matches, was spared the axe but will control the Titans-Warriors match at Cbus Super Stadium at 2pm on Sunday."

A lower profile match? With one team in the finals? There are 2 non top 8 games on this weekend... why are we "lower-profile" than Cows vs Knights or Bulldogs vs Tigers?

I'm triggered.

Absolutely disgraceful, Warriors management should be arcing up and going hard over this

Greenberg will run rugby league into the ground

. Sutton, for the most part, ain't too bad.
Interesting.
I cant stand Sutton. I make a habit of checking the team lists each week to see if we have avoided him and Cummins.
So far this year we have only had him once and Storm put 50 on us...
Had him once in 2017. we lost.
Had him twice in 2016. we lost both.
Luckily we dont get him very often as we arent "high profile" enough for the likes of him.
It feels like he is lowering himself when he has to ref us,as he treats RTS like shit when querying calls.
"I'm the ref. I know whats best. Know your place". Thats the vibe i get from him. ( though i could say the same for most of the refs lol. He just has the worst attitude/vibe when dealing with players imo)

Like the easy game we had against a majorly under strength Panthers team.
Yes mark this game down for an easy win! :)

Obviously not many refs on the NRL books?

By all the reports this week you just need someone who is physically fit enough to keep up with the play, the bunker and refs coach is in their ears so much telling them what to do they are controlling the game.

Not being in Australia, I don't follow "Buzz" so don't have the same aversion as many - but he seems bang on on the refs, the nepotism and favouritism is appalling, absolutely appalling

I know there are always 'crises' regarding refs, and I am 100% certain that Harrigan is not the answer - but it's not hard to see consistency and accountability are, and not automatically selecting your brother and Henry Perenara for big games every week is another. As Rothfield asks, what has Cecchin done wrong, nobody's perfect but he seems to be well on the outer

Who has said that our game is ‘lower profile’? Sutton? A journalist?

It came out in part of the statement about the officials being demoted this weekend, so either Sutton or Greenberg

Imagine the phone call from big bro to little bro. "For punishment this week, I'll send you up to the Gold Coast in the middle of winter"

I can only imagine what John Percival or Greg Hartley would have told the Referee's boss if told to "stick this in your ear and follow the instructions".
When I last reffed there was no sin-bin. You penalised or, if it warranted a stiffer penalty, sent the player off. If you sent him off both you and the player had to appear at the judicial hearing the following Monday night. Not too bad for the ref as the reffs meeting was on a Monday just up Carlaw Park Lane, but a real pain for the player who had to drive in from the suburbs and front.
The sending off was relaxed to the sin-bin of "up to 10 minutes". When was the last time you saw someone binned for 5 minutes?
The game now has too many on-field officials. Two reffs was supposed to speed the game up. At what cost? And now we spend more time waiting for the video replay.
My rule book started with the statement "The referee is the sole judge of fact." If the referee didn't swee it, or chose to ignore it, it didn't happen.
The administrators are killing our game. It is too much of a business now. Lord protect us from them.

Well, I guess were pretty unlucky with Sutton. For me, its guys like Gee and Cummins that come up with unbelievable calls or miss the clearly obvious transgressions.

Very interesting that we haven't won under Sutton in awhile.

Major silver lining of Blair's stupid tackle is we get to see the backrow I've been asking for.

Hopefully Mannering has a big game and steals Blair's spot (unlikely with the Kearney/Blair relationship, I know).

Ive watched the last couple of Titans games, sort of my second NRL team.
They are still dangerous in their own way. Very similar to the bad Warriors in that they clock off and come unstuck at key times in games.

They gave us quite a tough game earlier this year...and a fairly stout preseason game too...either of those contests were losable by the Warriors.

Hope our mob take them seriously and play smart footy through the first half...and not fall into a hole they cannot dig themselves out of.

I'm not one to subscribe to there being games in the NRL you should win, I'm more of the cliche t group that says any NRL team can beat you on any given day....probably an age thing.

I've been an advocate for Captain Call for years since Price got stripped in a Roosters game that got called a lost ball in a 32 all golden point draw.

NRL trialled it in Knights v Dragons. Pretty sure it didn't get used.
No follow up by what Brown said.

Depends who you want to believe but coaches didn't want it as bunker gives players a rest.

I'd say KFC had a bit to say after not getting screen time.

Conspiracy says Warriors would win a few more games. :)

But as you see Bunker doesn't get it right, I guess captain would have to spell out what they want looked at eg Touchie put his flag up.

Going back to one reff is just that - going backwards. Many have been happy with the one reffs in the RLWC. Particularly with the Super League reffs performances who are use to refereeing on their own.

The thing that people forget is that the RLWC is a big occasion with mostly one off internationals. Whereas the NRL is a tight competition where reffs are having to be on point 26+ weeks in a row.

The NRL is a lot for one man to do on their own.

It's worse than disgraceful. Who in their right f**king mind thinks it's anything less than horrifically unprofessional and f**king stupid to send out a press release that describes a game featuring a side in the 8 - or any side for that matter - as a lower-profile match? I mean, even to think it or do it...but then to explicitly say it in a press release. That's about as dumb as it comes. And it's pretty indicative of the Greenberg era.

I think they call it lower profile because they see it as an easy win for us and understandably so. Those other games you mentioned are a closer contest in their eyes.

Im just happy we ain't got Adam Gee or Cummins. Sutton, for the most part, ain't too bad.

I dunno why you think this is an easy win. Apart from being dusted up by the Broncs, the Titans have been pretty good since the bye. And your idea about resting Luke was a bit of a dud, he completely transforms who we are as a football side with his spark and delivery out of dummy half. Lawton isn't even a hooker, his pass is laboured, he gives us no roll-on. When you're 8th, haven't made finals in 6 seasons, you keep your best side unless he's completely busted.

After going close with the Storms best team last week, I've gotta feeling we should win this won quite comfortably.

Of all the games we've got and also considering Lukes niggle, I personally would rest him for this week. If we win by 30-40 this week and Luke aggrevates that calf strain to grade 3, well that would be a real dud decision to field him IMO. I just hope he comes through unscathed thats all.

Nah I dont rate the Titans. We should win this week.
