It might be that some of the defensive problems that Inu seemed to have on the weekend were in part attributable to Grothe not playing slide defence properly. It might also be that Grothe is injured or has niggling injuries and needs a rest. Either way, I'm confused and a bit baffled by this one. We'll really miss his fantastic charges off the wing. He may let in a try but he makes massive metres each week and he's been good this season.

My guess is that he rotating Guru. At times he's looked a little niggly over the past two weeks. I'd say the he could play if pushed but at this point Ando has the luxury of resting him if need be.

Either that or Guru's got a gig.

Eels dont have any defence problems that other clubs wouldnt have experienced. Last year against the titans and the bulldogs in the finals we all saw how well eels can defend. that includes Grothe.

*scratches head*

has to be something about Guru's fitness????

Naming him at 19 suggests he could still play a part.

PARRAMATTA winger Eric Grothe will be dropped to the bench for the Eels’ clash with North Queensland on Friday after coach Daniel Anderson revealed he has been playing with a rib injury.

Krisnan Inu will take Grothe’s place on the wing and Joel Reddy will return from a one game suspension, with Grothe moving to the bench.
Anderson said Grothe had had a bad run of injuries and needed to train before he could reclaim his spot.

“Eric had a pretty disrupted training last month,” the Eels coach said.
“He has had a few injuries and hasn’t been able to train.
“And in my mind that is a recipe for more injuries.”
A rib complaint has been the most recent injury to hamper the big winger, to the point where he has been playing without training.
“Last week he only trained for 20 minutes, and that’s not suitable” Anderson said.

“And the last couple of weeks he has not trained at all.
“He has played injured and with discomfort.

“He could play again this week, but it’s got to the point where he needs to train.”

Despite his condition, Anderson has decided to keep playing Grothe, although club doctors did clear the winger on each occasion.
After its 22-8 win over South Sydney at ANZ Stadium on Sunday, Parramatta should fancy their chances of scoring another win in Townsville.

Ummm embedding bit didn't work.

On the story though, two tries down Guru's wing, reminiscent of his previous poor defensive form.

I think Grothe has been strong with hit ups this season, and defence (bar this game).

My thoughts would be Krisnan Inu's positional play inside of him in defence, could be responsible for leaving him stranded perhaps?

Didn't seem to have this problem with Reddy on the paddock.

They're idiots at the Tele....and both tries were because Inu got trampled. Reddy, too, has his heart attack moments in defence...
