Thank you James Maloney

Why not just straight up go with the Souths halves? Sutton provides the running game plus structure and direction in our team (though Reynolds does too) while Reynolds provides an amazing kicking game and gets repeat sets

Its a combo that is proven to work

Plus Sutton has the extra size of a forward that can only be a positive at Origin level

I'm really starting to think we picked the wrong club combo here. Maloney and Pearce are great when we are on top. How we would have loved to have Adam Reynolds' kicking game coming out of our own half tonight. And how we would have loved to have a big body like John Sutton defending a rampaging Thaiday on the fringes in the early stages.

Even a combo like

6. Carney
7. Reynolds

13. Sutton (off the bench)

Where Sutton is playing like an additional five eight, as he has been doing the past few weeks when Keary comes on for us

Carney could play his more natural game without needing to worry about being the game manager, while Reynolds does that and controls the kicking. Sutton can provide ball playing and strong running with the occasional short kick or bomb if needed

This combo could be great

Both need to go. That was the worst halves pairing performance I've ever seen. Pearce has had far too long - enough is enough

Bring in Carney and/or Mullen who will offer some variety in attack and can actually kick.
I agree they were awful and merrit, just as i thought it would be ,the super highway for the maroons , thanks ferguson for letting your state down, wally

NSW simply don't have the halves to compete with Queensland's. If they are going to win, their forwards need to absolutely dominate the QLD pack. That's what they did in game 1. That's why Maloney and Pearce looked ok.

NSW certainly aren't going to win by changing their halves combination for game 3 though.

What cracks me up is when Pearce is on the 3rd or 4th tackle you see him at first receiver shouting and pointing then gets the ball and just gives a simple inside ball to a forward. Then does the same on the last and boots it straight to Slater.

Every f**king game.

I could understand when he had next to no competiton for the jersey and he actually looked like he might kick on, but now we have A.Reynolds, Carney, f**k, I'd even rather Kelly than this guy.

NSW got cocky after game I when they didn't deserve to be. They beat an extremely poor Queensland side by 8. Game II, Queensland were back to their best.

Origin is a game of power and building pressure. Both teams have the power engines, and the forward battle will always be back and forth. Fafita, Scott, Gallen, Myles, etc. these forward packs are just fantastic and a real struggle. But Queensland are the only ones who can build pressure.

NSW halves pairing have the least amount of repeat sets in the NRL. Why did they think they would be a good idea. Meanwhile, we have a young halfback playing in the team currently coming first in the toughest competition in the world, whose strength is his kicking game to help build pressure, and we refuse to play him. As long as NSW continue to pick on bullshit names rather than proven performance they will never be able to compete with the Queensland halves.

Pearce has been gifted so many games when he has performed worse than Brett Kimmorley ever had (and remember he was labelled as never to play again). His range of origin performances have been from f**king horrible to 'he didn't f**k up too much tonight'. He has NEVER had a good game in State of Origin.

I will give Maloney a reprieve. It was his second Origin game and in suncorp, his first was pretty good.

BTW, Telegraph rates Josh Reynolds a 4.5 but Pearce a 5.5 - WHAT THE f**k WERE YOU WATCHING???!!!

Should have stuck with Mullen.

I don't know if you meant to be sarcastic, but if they wanted to do the 'pick and stick' thing, then they should have.

Mullen at least has a kicking game that can build pressure.

I'm a huge Mullen fan, I think for a rookie he played quite well in his game, I think if he was kept he would have continued to improve and eventually troubled Queensland.
Pierce has never looked dangerous, ever.
Todd Carney could have been kept as well, it's not like he's the only guy that's been overwhelmed in an origin game.

I don't really believe that Maloney is the answer either as he took advantage of a lacklustre forward pack in game 1 in which most halves would.
NSW has their hooker and fullback doing what the halves should be doing, it's no wonder they struggle.

I'd bring in sutton and reynolds. They have a good combo, compliment each other well and both can fcking tackle. Hayne could play the roll that inglis plays for souths which would suit sutton...seriously they couldn't be any fcken worse

But do you take two halves on debut into a decider Vic? Everyone (except Roosters fans & Laurie Daley) can see that Pearce is deadset one of the worst 7's in the NRL yet he gets picked for NSW year after year. A 3-8 Origin record and on the verge of losing his what, 4th series now?

He is a myth, always will be. Adam Reynolds is twice the player and Sutton has been great too, but it would be a massive risk to bring them into a must-win game first up. I bet Daley sticks with pearce and he will have yet another terrible game in SOOIII

It's like Lyon in the test match, halfway through you think I don't care who it it, just please replace this guy next match.

If they give Reynolds a shot and we lose, you can be sure that even if they stuck with Pearce it would have been the same result. The guy dead set has the least creativity out of every single half in the comp. Inside ball, inside ball, short ball, short ball, bomb on the last.
