I was due to go to the F1 that day as well but with everything going on I cancelled my flight.

So weird how it was 5 years ago. Also if you want to freak yourself out just think how old you will be when Dylan Browns contract ends. f**kING HELL.

How about Gout Gout running a sub 20 second 200m at 17 years old?

Real potential superstar to get behing at the next couple of Olympics.

Massive potential, a lot of pressure but has a great head on his shoulders and some very good mentors.
Record 200m time so far for 2025 in the world
19.98 I think it was
Australian all time record
But not counted. Including World record time
Cause of wind assistance at the moment of race
So they timed it as 20.98 I Think

Some pretty petty ugly humans out there claiming he isn’t 17. Like f**k me dead, he was BORN in Australia, has a birth certificate, it’s all legit.

This isn’t a case of the local footy comp having a 13 year old playing with a beard and driving his family home after the game.
I have seen women's weightlifting where the athletes have beards

Geez that Adolescence on Netflix is a tough watch. Stephen Graham and the rest of the cast were superb
I was just thinking about it @Cheese sandwich
Amazing show but torrid - watched it over two days.
As a parent or even as a functioning adult, it’s is essential viewing. Even got me a bit teary for Stephen Graham - hard man in a hard spot
Oddly, limited to nil violence, sex and whatnot, just a show that you can’t get out of your head. Probaly the fact each episode over an hour is in one take, shot with a lot of characters going on
As one in their 50’s, the world is a lot different but also the same in some ways when compared you my youth.
Won’t be lost on me for a while - walking to get train to game and will be on my old mind

Just finished watching it. Really well done.

I have to say, the opening scene where the police bash down the door and swarm in reminds me of when I was living in England and was handcuffed under suspicion of being involved in this.

It was about 5am, and I'd only just managed to drift off to sleep after suffering through one of the worst bouts of insomnia I'd ever had.
The sight of a dozen police, all in riot gear, swarming through the front door and up the stairs as I stood in my bedroom doorway was terrifying.

Next thing, pinned, handcuffed and officers barking at me "What's your name?". Then, when I responded, "Don <lastname> you are under arrest for suspicion of GBH".

Me, sleepily: "What's GBH?"
Them: "Do you understand you're under arrest for suspicion of GBH?"
Me again: "Yes. What's GBH?".
And back and forth and on an on until one of them finally says "Grievous bodily harm".
WTF?! "I've been in bed all night trying to sleep. When was this supposed to happen?".

Thankfully, I was released after what seemed like an eternity but was probably only 5 minutes.

From the questions they were asking me, I knew whatever it was it was serious -
"Are there any baseball bats in the house?".
"Are there any hammers?".
"Would you be able to tell us if they were missing?"
"How long have the fence palings been missing off the fence".

Pharque me, I thought, what the hell has gone down?

It was a really scary time and, sadly, the end of what had been, up to then, a dream life living in the UK.
I really loved those guys. They were a heap of fun to live with.

Very sad.

Good story, Don.

Speaking of stories of mistaken identity, I've got a doozie.
I'd taken off from the world for 1990, no one really knew where I was until I called and said I was coming home towards the end of the year. I spent 1991 here but reality was creeping into my bone and I took off for an undetermined amount of time going fully around Australia.
I managed to convince two mates to come along, we all drove our own cars. They bought a Kombi and a Landrover respectively, I already owned my Valiant Safari and that was always going to be my motor of comfort.
I have thousands of stories about these years but this is one I like to tell a bit more than the others.

We left in January 1992, 2 days after the very first Big Day Out that only had 10,000 people and Nirvana played. Great day/night.
By September/October we were in NW WA, more specifically, Carnarvon.
Myself and the fella in the Landrover had picked up some chick's in Qld and they'd hopped on board with us. We surfed every day and were in general pretty active.
My mate in the Kombi was the exact opposite, didn't have a girl and in general just laid in his van smoking, and smoking, and smoking. He enjoys to smoke to this day. Picture Neil from The Young Ones.
Anyway one day in Carnarvon these two cops knock on the Kombis window and ask my mate to come out. They ask him to come to the station for questioning about something, he complied and I went along for support.
They questioned every where he'd been the last year, day by day. He had been actually keeping a diary somewhat and he let them read it.
"Smoked in Coolum today" "Kombi blew up in Katherine today so I smoked there" etc.
They made him report to their CIB every day he was in Carnarvon for the next 4 weeks.
Why was he reporting to them?
Some backpackers had been going missing around the country.
Whom did the culprit end up being?
Ivan Milat.
