Man U tix sold out in 2 mins ? WTF ? Seems not possible to sell 80,000 less gold members that quick.

http://www.smh.com.au/sport/footbal...cuse-ticketek-of-own-goal-20121212-2b8w3.html

Yeah Stadium members are limited to about 16,800,1500 Platinum and the rest are gold. It will depend on our reserve through, some events (Rugby normally) the members reserve allocation of tickets is over 18,000 because members pay for Member "guest" tickets. (Full price Gold Seating)

not sold out, there is more being released in April

Yeah looks like only 15,000 tickets were released today. I wonder how many were bought by the FFA members? But in April the members allocation will be known (that is when members ticket sales close).

Anyone ever been to Newnes? It's a camping spot near the famous Glow Worm Tunnel. Going again tomorrow, one of the best places in the world IMO :D

Newnes is awesome! Once did a walk from there down the Wolgan river to the colo and came out at the putty rd. Is the old pub building still there? Used to be owned by this strange recluse bloke, stirling?

Ive been going there since i was just out of nappies. The pub is still there, i haven't been in there in years though, so i don't know who owns it. So that walk wasn't to any of the ruins? You HAVE to go back and do the ruins walks if it wasn't.

Yeah I've seen the ruins of the old shale oil mine. It took us 6 days to walk from the camp ground at newnes, past the ruins and along the river up to the puttu. I've also done a day return walk from the glow worms side down to newnes and back along the old railway.

Nice man. It's such a great spot there, really interesting too. I'll have a beer for you tomorrow in the river :D

Thousands of children die violently every day. Either you didn't know that or you think it's only tragic when it happens all at once.

To paraphrase a more famous quote, the death of one child is a tragedy; the death of 20+ is a statistic.

You are 100% correct, those children die in horrible dictatorships and is part of that world and as unfortunate and sad that it is, we DO NOT expect it to happen in somewhat civilised parts of the world that we live in, hence why it is shocking for us!!!

20+ kids stabbed in China and 18 kids gunned down along with 10 adults in the US, so yeah just a few.........but I suspect you already knew that........

This is the bit I don't get.
I heard about the kids in the US dying - it's been the lead story all day on every news bulletin on radio and tv.
But until this very minute, when I read your post, I hadn't heard about the 20+ kids stabbed in China.
Are the lives of those in less fortunate countries less news worthy?
I wonder how many kids died of famine in Africa today?
I bet it's a lot more than those that did in a massacre in wealthy America.

The world makes me sad too often. :(

Yeah, agree Suity. The media selection (and community reaction) of/to comparative tragic situations always makes me wonder a bit too. Why we hear so much about a certain situation, and nothing about other ones in different parts of the world? Sad times.

I'm not sure it's about not caring as such, rather what is more relevant to us. China is not relevant to our culture, the US on the other hand, much like the UK are very much linked to our everyday lives........

I'm not sure it's ever been any different in fact it's probably been worse, it just seems more shocking when it is kids!

i'm same as suity - i hadn't even heard of the china thing until you posted it

while i agree with korny saying our existance in this country is more closely linked to the USA (which is partly due to our country being in bed with them for so long) - I also know that a fair part of the reason is simply the media's accessibility to information

the media go into a frenzy over certain things these days - they need to make a big deal to get people looking at their coverage of things .... this is about their company's existence - media companies are struggling ... it is easier for them to make a big deal about something they can get a big stream of information about - they can get all the photos, quotes, video they want from things in the USA - they can't from china, africa, etc

Instictively, I agree with Suity.

Brings to mind an old skit on the original D-Generation show. They had a mock TV news broadcast, and at the top of the screen there was 'The Deathometer', which registered the number of deaths reported in each news item. They started with something like '3 people have been killed on NSW roads', and the Deathometer quickly counts up 1,2,3. A few similar reports follow. Then they finally report "32,000 people have drowned in Bangladeshi floods".....the Deathometer rises by 2....and when the newsreader is sure that it has finished moving, he explains..".....those are, of course, racially adjusted figures".

Well that's the other side isn't it, there is a language barrier, we wouldn't understand any interview and we just aren't as interested as a whole.......

http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/arrests-after-flares-thrown-at-match-20121216-2bh5r.html

There's been a bit of this garbage creeping into the a-league in the last few weeks. Shame.

Arrests after flares thrown at match

December 16, 2012 - 8:53AM

Police have arrested two men and a teenage boy after flares were thrown onto the playing field during a soccer match at Sydney's Moore Park.

The arrests came after police reviewed CCTV footage of the flares being thrown between 7.45pm and 8.15pm last night.

Two men, aged 21 and 28, were arrested and charged with possessing a non-firearm for discharging irritant in a public place and will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on January 8.

A 16-year-old boy also arrested for allegedly throwing flares and he will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

Eastern Beaches Local Area Commander, Superintendent Gavin Dengate says throwing flares in public places is dangerous and police will continue to review the CCTV footage.
