I'd just like to know what others think of Roy Hardleys commentary yesterday.

I hate him with a passion, so maybe my opinion is a little biased.

But.......

Did anyone find it a little strange that such a big deal was made (by the allegedly professional and highly paid commentary team) the pronunciation of one of the players names?
Honestly, I thought it was embarrassing, that as a professional sport, the commentators from the official broadcaster didn't know how to pronounce a players name. RAY WARREN.....ARE YOU LISTENING? I know the other Ray (is he relevant)was filling in for you. But you were mentioned in the commentary re the pronunciation of the said players name at a meeting. The fact they made a joke about it with others on the commentary team, just goes to serve that Channel Nein are such an amateur broadcaster.
Ray, you hold yourself in such high esteem. How about you show a bit more professionalism and discipline your team, and try and improve the professionalism that Channel 9 pretend they have.

I heard it but think your reaction is over the top.

I though it was unfunny and was wishing he would shut the f**k up and commentate on the game more than anything. It isn't the first time during a game that commentators have discussed the pronunciation of a players name so to single this out does appear biased.

I don't understand how everyone keeps f**king up. Can't some merkin go and talk to the players and report back?

Hardley was a bad as he normally is, didn't notice anything different.

Inane dribbling when you are trying to watch a game of footy, he confused Toutai who was wearing 5 and catching a ball on his wing with Pauli Pauli. Sigh!!

Bring back Vossy!!

and the never ending obsession with joking about all the paul sounding names ... haha - funny the first few times - getting a bit dull now ..... on par with the never ending joke about matt gillet's name

the name pronunciation thing didn't irk me that much - they are old farts who think they are funny crapping on with shit and maybe some find it funny, I dunno

but tbh I don't find it weird that they don't know how to pronounce every player name ... there are 16 clubs of players to know - up to 30 players take the field per club per year ...... we know all our player names cos we obsess about them - every other fan probably knows all their player's names too

I would consider myself a conservationist (even an environmentalist) but I also, like Uncle Tone, think climate change is not anthropogenic.

Based on what science ? Or, like the vast majority of the climate sceptics, is it just your opinion ?

Why would anyone be sceptical about the causes of climate change unless it was unconvincing?

How about that they are ignorant dickheads ?

http://www.acecrc.org.au/access/rep...02e-bf5a-4040d04b55e4/PA01_SLR_FIN_090828.pdf

Scientists are a funny lot. They actually WANT another scientist to prove him or a theory wrong. Based on science of course, not amateur climate change commentators offering opinion (who all seem to be middle age wealthy white men who have a financial agenda).

My main question relates to why no one can explain the trend that already existed. Prior to the Post-War Economic Boom...or even the invention of the mercury thermometer...hell, even the Industrial Revolution...there was an upwards trend in global temperatures that hasn't deviated in any statistically significant way (that is, unless you count the recent pause...)

So why has the continuation of what was obviously a natural trend suddenly been ascribed to anthropogenic causes?

Sorry, Gronk, but that link is a load of shit, and the reasons for it being a load of shit are another example of why I have questions regarding AGW.

Basically, it's not a paper that shows that Global Warming has an Anthropogenic cause. It simply states that this is the case. Now, true, there would be other papers that discuss this cause but this is not one of those papers. Please link to these other papers when trying to illustrate the anthropogenic nature of Global Warming.

I'm not denying that global temperatures were rising prior to 1999, only questioning whether the cause is anthropogenic. So freaking out about sea level rises etc is pointless if it is natural.

Now, is it natural? Well, page 5 states in bold that it happened naturally 5000 years ago, so why not now? Especially since the trend existed naturally prior to the start of the Industrial Revolution.

This is the problem with ignorant fools such as yourself: you just assume something and then argue from there as if its true, ascribing elements to your belief that may not necessarily come from it.

No one can explain the trend ? Hasn't deviated in any statistically significant way ? Very Alan Jones that. Bamboozle the your fellow amateurs with gobbledygook hoping that they slink away drowning in conflicting graphs and stats. Bottom line is that 99.99999999999999999% of scientists don't agree with you merkin.

You and Big Al, my friend, are what they call climate change confusionists.

Show me published scientific papers which proves that climate change is simply Y2K Part 2 and I will put my hand up and join your club.

To be fair Gronk, there ARE actual scientists who swim against the stream on this one

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...tream_scientific_assessment_of_global_warming

Having said that, sometimes people just swim against the stream in the hope of bignoting themselves later on --> they stake a position, and then draw attention to themselves should the thing they are opposing fail to eventuate (they do this even if their stated position fails to be proven...)
