The term "mandate" certainly does get bandied around far too often, but 90-55 is as close to having a virtual mandate as you are ever going to get.

As for the last point, you are spot on, but even then i don't think some on the other side of politics would allow their egos to consider potentially meeting him at some point in the middle.

All this mandate talk is bullshit. Political 'leaders' are only as effective as they are allowed to be by the system. This is why less government is better than more - because competing interests in the public sphere hamstring anybody from getting anything done, it creates space for the private sector to get shit done with minimal waste.
