Yeah that is what I tell my kids, do what you want, litter , swear ......be a rude. As you are only one, it won't make a difference to a nation of 20 million people

Not sure what you are saying. Even if we reduced our pollution to zero it would have no effect. We barely produce 1% of the worlds total pollution. Not bad for such a large country.

Introducing a carbon tax is not about us making a huge affect on the worlds pollution, it's about us doing the right thing. It also ensures we emit less per person as currently our per person emissions a very high compared to other countries.

Also in few years Australian companies will be penalised when dealing with other countries with ETS

Not sure what this means but our pollution level is tiny. It's up to the big polluters like China to fix it.

Agree. Not our problem. Nor is famine in Africa, disease in South America, female teens being stolen and sold for slaves in Kenya etc etc. This is why Abbott has slashed foreign aid. He only gives aid now to countries that can ad value to us. So if we can make money out of it, they can have some cash, otherwise they can just f**king deal and work it out themselves.

AND We might have 153 Sri Lankins stuck in a floating jail for the past 3 weeks...

But we the main thing is that we have stopped the boats and axed that f**king toxic tax !
yay.gif

Floating jail / offshore detention, 6 of 1, half a dozen of another isnt it?

You really need to get some new material Gronk. It's starting to get a little repetitive. That said, i think Tony has f**ked himself through the axing of the tax process. Not because of the axing of the tax itself, but because he has been forced to negotiate away so many other budget measures and promises that he looks even more untrustworthy than he already looked. The budget will continue to be in deficit, and he will be help accountable, even though he wasn't able to implement the full budget that he wanted. That politics, but I find it annoying that a party that gets such an overwhelming majority of seats at the most recent election can't govern as they see fit, and is continually left at the mercy of minor party whims. You'd think the Australian public would learn after 3 successive governments have been screwed in the same way.

Given the spread of our population and great expanse of our nation, that is always going to be the case.

The two-party preferred vote was 53.5% to 46.5%.

And I would call that an over whelming majority (biggest TPP majority since 1996, and before that 1975), as I would with 90 seats v's 55.

I just think the days of voting for a minor party "to keep the bastards honest" has had its day, because rather than doing that, those minor parties push their own agenda (which two tenths of f**k all people voted in favor of). And that cuts both ways, regardless of who is in government.

Foreign aid just makes corrupt third world politicians rich. Anyway, charity starts at home. When our own social issues are sorted out we'll be able to afford to pay to solve everyone else's.

No doubt about it, your figures are correct. But there is no "mandate" that PMs seem to think that they have every time they have the majority of seats to form a government.

I hear you about being unable to govern. Julia had a 1 seat control of the house of reps and that followed through with control of the senate. With that she was the most productive PM in history and having a 0.495/day conversion rate, higher than Hawke, Fraser, Keating and Whitlam.

Abbott will struggle to get anything passed unless he shifts away from his far right conservative midset IMHO.

The term "mandate" certainly does get bandied around far too often, but 90-55 is as close to having a virtual mandate as you are ever going to get.

As for the last point, you are spot on, but even then i don't think some on the other side of politics would allow their egos to consider potentially meeting him at some point in the middle.
