Both the OCs and Sirriani should be sacked, that was embarrassing.

The defence was putrid, they can't tackle or are not willing to tackle and most of the TB points came off the back of simple missed tackles.

Offence I think has the pieces it needs, of course things can always be improved in the draft but overall there isn't a skill deficiency. It needs fresh eyes and a scheme that actually plays to its strengths.

As embarrassing as it was, getting beat down by a 9-8 team who isn't playoff quality is the best outcome because it will (hopefully) result in the changes needed to see this talented roster bounce back.

Agreed

Defence has flat out quit on its coaches and frankly, i dont blame em.. Need to invest in LB and S, need a playcaller and architect that can actually put these players in position to succeed. This tackling and effort isnt on coaching, its on the players. But the players are responding to their coaches in kind. They've quite on the coaching, nothing more to the said on that side of the ball.

Offensively, again, no answer to clear pressure looks, no hots, no sight adjustments... they had one answer, a WR screen that worked, outside of that all vertical routes. That is not an offensive structure. So OC Brian Johnson has got to go. The team needs a proper offensive infrastructure, which apparently left the building with Shane Steichen, so for Sirianni if he's not a play caller, and he's not installing a system that can elevate talent, then all he's got in his bag is being a culture guy, and guess what? the team just collapsed down the stretch in horrific fashion so what's the culture?

He's going to have to answer for that, and if he doesnt have good answers, he should be fired.

Very interesting couple of weeks coming up.

Sirriani will obviously try to save himself at the expense of the co-ordinators but we will see what Howie does

If social media is anything to go by, the fanbase wants all 3 of them gone. Interesting idea doing the rounds about getting Pete Carrol over? What are your thoughts on that? Logic being that he would only be a 2-3 year coach but that is probably what we have left in the championship window under the current core. He would instil both offensive and defensive structure whilst grooming the next coach (presumably one of the OCs)

Either way, if we do move on at HC, I think we need someone experienced, don't think an up and coming OC/DC is what this group requires at this stage.

Im not in on the Pete Carroll thing
I dont think thats the answer... I dont actually love a lot of what he does defensively, and it's been a hot minute since he had a deep play off run. He's also a defensive HC, and under Lurie and Roseman they've hired nothing but offensive HCs and i wouldnt expect that to change.

I also dont think Pete Carroll wants to come to this job and deal with Roseman. He's just lost a power struggle with a GM, and he's going to come here with a GM who never leaving? Na i dont think that's a fit.
Also why im not sure BB is a fit.

if Jim Harbough is OK with Roseman, i could see that being a fish they try to land. I tend to agree a seasoned coach is what this team needs... if they're willing to go a defensive minded HC (i doubt it), Vrabrel or Mike Macdonald would work, but the name i want is a first time HC - and it's Ben Johnson. I am absolutely 100% confident Ben Johnson can put together an offence that works very well with this talent. And he's the play caller so you get the security of that.

He's also probably more open to the team helping him flesh out some staff as he probably doesnt have a full staff ready to rock and roll. If the team is looking for their next Andy Reid, which it seems they always are... he's the horse to bet on. Bobby Slowik is the other name worth thinking about.

Well Sirianni surived

Sean Desai is out and Matt Patricia will be departing the org too (though he was not contracted beyond this year, so didnt need to be fired).
Sounds like to me they are waiting to see what happens with Brian Johnson, he's interviewing for HC gigs, they'd be silly to fire him now because it was severely hurt his HC chances and if he happens to jag one of those jobs, we'd get draft pick compensation

But once all the vacancies are filled, i think he'll be fired or demoted back to QB's coach, with Jim Bob Cooter and/or Frank Reich (if he wants to continue to coach) coming as offensive staff. I could see JBC being OC with Reich being a "senior passing game analyst" or some such title.

For DC the eagles have apparently reached out to Wink Martindale and former falcons DC Ryan Nielsen
Both of whom i think would be really good hires. Wink would be something completely different to recent DCs...

Gannon/Desai are more of a rush 4 and play coverage team, where as Wink is a blitzer... he doesnt give a damn what the down and distance is, he's sending dudes to get the QB. Could be a fun hire

As expected, someone had to be sacrificed for these sins and if it wasnt gonna be Sirianni, it was going to Johnson

The Coordinator search is underway and there is some... interesting names already being thrown out.
They've interviewed Ron Rivera for the DC role, they've reached out to Wink Martindale.
Offensively they talked to Kingsberry and are apparently speaking to Reich and Jim Bob Cooter

I've seen Eric Bieniemy speculated. Ryan Neilson was a DC i wanted but he got snapped up by Dougie P and the Jags
Important to get these hires right

When they figure out the hires ill have more to say, but they're casting a pretty wide net it seems. Excited to see who they get.

Well, the DC situation resolved itself rather quickly
Vic Fangio out in Miami and he's an absolute stone cold lock to take up the DC role with Philly

I was pretty firm on my feel of being done with these Fangio tree DCs
But i think there is a fairly large difference between guys who have coached with and use the Fangio style and actually getting Vic Fangio himself.
I don't want the Fangio wannabe's but I'm pretty excited to get the real deal actual Vic Fangio.

There is still personnel issues to sort out. They need a legitimate safety to pair with Blankenship and the LB's are a disaster that need an overhaul. I still think Slay can play and will be OK, but Bradbury just had one of the worst years i've seen as an eagles CB, so he's probably gotta go. I like the young players but they've also go Isiah Rodgers who was suspended for gambling and cut by the colts. I think he's a really good player, so he's going to come into the frame i think.

Kellen Moore has gotten the OC job and I’m a little torn about that

I’ve always felt Moore offences were often too show off-y in the sense that he dials up and calls cool and creative shit but gets cute and gets away from just running the stuff that works.
The other part that is bad is if this works, if he’s awesome and gets the Eagles back on track offensively, this is a man who’s already interviewed for HC jobs. If he’s good he’s getting hired next year and we’re back to square one trying to find an OC to carry the load again.
So that’s the bad side

the good side - he knows how to scheme with motion, he gets dudes open, he has systemic answers to pressure looks and he’s got modern offensive ideas
His offence will scheme guys to get open and not just rely on Aj, Smithy and Dallas to win 1 on 1’s
He should give Hurts and the offence easy answers and attack the middle of the field.
Importantly he’s also not Ben Johnson who I think was unfairly blamed for a lot of things but also I think he did struggle as a play caller and he’s not Kliff Kingbery who I saw as a schemer and play caller to be to similar to what we had in 2023 and his hiring would have, imo, seen the same issues persist

so overall, a bit weary of the Kellen Moore hire but understand why they went that way and think it has a chance to really work out nicely. Love the Fangio hire. It’s a B+ for me on the coordinators

And shit, if it doesn’t work out it probably doesn’t matter much as all these guys are gonna be gone in clean house scenario

It's a wait and see for me but if he at least tries to get the run game going with this talented OL and then RPOs on the back of that with Jalen then he is already doing better than his predecessor.

Our 2024 season opener will be on a Friday night in Brazil. A designated home game which still leaves 8 home games as this is the year NFC teams get the extra home game.

I think ultimately the NFL would like all teams who have 9 home games to take one of them elsewhere.

As far as opponent goes, it is no yet known but we can safely assume it won't be a division opponent and Pittsburgh and green bay seem unlikely to. That leaves Atlanta, Cleveland, Jags and Panthers.

Yeah i cant see the eagles wanting to give up the PIT or GB game, both big draws for away fans.

Jags and Panthers already have international games on their schedule, so i think will likely be either Falcons or Browns. Id probably rather get that Browns game out of the way. Tough defence, shakey offence... weird international game, AFC team so minimal impact on tie breakers etc if you drop it.

This line on a BGN piece.

The league is churning through play callers at what has to be a record rate. Only 11 offensive play callers are still with the same team they were with in 2022, and only two of them, Ben Johnson and Mike Kafka (when Brian Daboll lets him call plays) are not head coaches. Head coaches are more fungible than ever, which means their assistants are even more replaceable. Not getting the job done? Owners and GMs can find someone who more aligns with their vision, even if they have never had the job before. If they stink, they’ll just fire them anyway and bring in some other up and comer.

He made me cry again...

Just an absolute beast at his position. Blew people off the field. First ballot HoFamer and best center to ever play the game.

Tough losing both in an off season
Cox was an awesome player basically his entire career, had one down year last year and came back to be one our best this year

sad to see him go but not unexpected

it’s an interesting time for the eagles
Big change in leadership and I expect three days from now we’ll realise how different this defence is going to be
Expecting at least one of Reddick and Sweat to be traded maybe both
And I think there will be significant investment in safety, Lb and de to replace the traded players

McKinney, Jerome Baker and Bryce Huff are 4 names I think are a good chance to end up as eagles

So Eagles have Huff and they were apparently going to land McKinney too until the Packers came over the top with a stronger deal

Expecting they'll still be in the LB and S market but the shocker... Saquon Barkley at 12m per year is going to be an Eagles
I never thought the Eagles would pay at the top of the market for RB under Howie. Fun. VERY FUN. But i dont know that it's the best allocation of cap space
