Provan, Meninga, Coote, these guys all did far more for rugby league than a pill-popping, petulant little merkin from the arse end if the earth.

The Immortals clearly means nothing anymore.

I only saw the last 3 years of Wally's career but him and Joey are the best I've seen in my days of watching the game.

Congrats Joey.

I feel there were players that should have been inducted well before Johns but really it is a magazine promotion that isn't really owned by the game. The sooner a real Hall of Fame is created and players from all eras are considered it truly means little outside of an increased cover charge for the next RLW.

If someone watches this sport purely for the brilliance of their physical skill & footy nous, they would have to acknowledge Joey as a well deserved immortal.

Noone expected you to deliver Skeepe.

What a f***ing joke. What a fantastic example for future players. "Hey kids, do drugs your whole career and you can be an immortal like me, Joey johns" the immortals have now lost all credibility.

Congrats Joey!

The best player I have seen in my lifetime and I dont say that lightly as he tore the Eels heart out in 01.
For all those people saying he doesnt deserve it due to off field stuff what about some of the existing inductees. They weren't all saints off the field !

Im not 100% but I think they only name post-war Immortals.

If they had pre-war, obviously Messenger would be one of the first, then Dave Brown, Frank Burge.

Joey more than deserves but I think this time was too soon. He wasn't going to miss out if they waited. It was only five years ago that he retired.
