The art of politics and getting it wrong

The worst thing is about politics and politicians and that they withold information to suit their own agenda. After battling for years to get some sort of equitable outcome on the home ground issues, we now have to read this...

Where is the $8 million commitment for WIN Stadium?
Michael Organ MP, 8th October 2004

On the eve of the election, Greens Cunningham MP Michael Organ has dismissed the ALP's candidate's announcement of a $138,000 feasibility study into expanding WIN stadium as a cheap political stunt that proves the Labor party still takes the Illawarra for granted.

"Here we have the ALP at its worst, Latham promises $8 million to upgrade the Illawarra Dragons ground at Kogarah and then throws the Wollongong ground a few crumbs and expects us to cheer," Michael Organ said.

"All this proves the ALP thinks the Illawarra will put up with second best- well we won't." Michael Organ said.

"What exactly will $138,000 worth of feasibility study buy when compared to an $8 million grant for the Dragon's ground in Kogarah."

"For all the ALP's talk about having leant its lesson when they lost the by-election in 2002, it's clear they haven't." Michael Organ said.

"The $8 million dollar promise to the Kogarah field can only take business and jobs and possibly even Dragons games away from WIN stadium and that's three point sell out", Michael Organ said.

"WIN stadium needs a serious investment commitment, not another feasibility study," Michael Organ said.

A few points for Mr Organ:
1.) WIN has already received more than it's fair share of upgrades - the Northern Grandstand didn't grow out the ground by itself - more than a few "crumbs".
2.) Meanwhile, Kogarah was put together with gaffa tape.
3.) There has never been a team called, the Illawarra Dragons.

Michael Organ needs to leave his organ alone.

Its an opportunistic money grab by a Grade A knob shiner.

...it could even take games away from Wollongong!!

You mean as opposed to the current situation which dictates that games are taken away from Kogarah?

and btw, it's been a long time since Jubilee has been refered to as a 'field'.

Had he said that WIN should get some money to improve facilities while KO gets 8 million then that would be ok, as he has to be seen to be doing all he can for his electorate but coming out and sprouting rubbish like that is absolutely ridiculous.

Living too close to the refinery perhaps?

LOL, does anyone have this punk's email address?? I'd never have thought that a member of parliament could be so un-informed. Oh, wait...

Imagine how much he's going to blow up when the merger is murdered, taking away jobs for Illawarrans selling food & beverege to Sydneysiders.

"We want 7 games for the Illawarra Dragons at Kogarah Field!!"

You and Organ-head should be down on your knees thanking the Sydney fans for keeping NRL football in Wollongong.

But instead we get you parasites bagging us.

So tell me... if the Wollongong MP seemingly disgrees with you, it is outside the scope of opinion to tell him that he is wrong...?
Go ahead, contradict yourself some more.

Well, the statement is what you'd expect from someone like that - parochial and misleading (talking about the Member - Organ not bigsteel).

In fact WIN has had so much help it's a laughing stock amongst governments (local and state), selling land to fund projects that they didn't get approval for, and which weren't even on their land... having to exhume bodies and awarding leases without due tender process (ICAC stuff but just got away with letters of explanation pointing out how stupid they'd been).

They've also been bailed out financially twice and still can't turn a profit.  :x

Anyway, their proposals for the western stand are technically illegal and wouldn't progress unless there are specific legislative changes. The proposals for Jubille are at least legal and warranted.

You must have expected that Willow.

There is no room for well thought out argument based on fact when there are so many emoticons and 5 year olds willing to use them.

Steel-Dragon you're a deadset goose.

This is a discussion forum and all you can do is pester members for actually discussing issues. And then you try and bring up people's circumstance which you in fact know nothing of.

Moron.

Anyway back on topic, doses anyone have this Organ's email address? Or maybe a response in the Illawarra Mercury might be the go.

I'd start it of with this:

'Hi, I'm an old Steeler fan from way back and.......' ;-)

Is that it?
It's tough but someone has to do it. You forgot the part about being served a cold beer by a bevvy of bikini clad girls.
Not your business ofcourse but until recently I lived in Sydney all my life. Blokes like you are as common as piss on a cold night.

Tell me, are you here to contribute to discussions? Or are you demonstrating what typing looks like when a galah has been pecking at a keyboard?
