That will come. When any team is rebuilding, the problem the coach faces is that there is too big a difference between their best form and their worst form. That gap eventually narrows.

I like BA. I don't think he's a great or perfect coach or anything...I think he's undervalued the number 9 role his whole tenure for eg and I think he underutilises his assistant coaches, especially where he could bring in a whole lot of new ideas that way.

But he's a good coach. I don't see the point replacing a good coach with a worse coach. Particularly given our basket case history.

And then recent names pushed hard by the Eels "faithful" include:

Nathan Brown
Shane Flanagan
Justin Holbrook
Madge McGuire
Adam O'Brien

All notable for being worse than BA (I'll except Flanagan from that given there's no data since the Dank old days...). I'd like to have seen a Payten or a Fitzgibbon given a chance but there's absolutely zero point us going back to sacking coaches just cos the fans are lunatics.

They can't have any power as factions now so they send death threats to BA and his son instead...SMH

Look, I get your point but honestly, even being a reasonably objective fan, it's looking like a grim season. Right now, we look like a team of Tim Smith's.

We've got nothing to blame it on, no one from the club provides anything more than average sound bites.

We're sitting 6th. I can't agree that's grim given where we've been less than a decade ago?

I guess I just also don't agree someone or something needs to be blamed all the time? But if we do, why not blame the players who didn't show up Monday? BA called it embarrassing and he was right. Regardless of whether he made a mistake with the prep (and we honestly don't know all the info there) we all know he's not coaching them to take opponents lightly. If anything his messaging has always been the complete opposite and he's copped criticism for that too?

Monday sucked, but that's been the Eels since I was a kid. 30 odd years and we've always had that in us. I don't know why, but no coach has managed to do away with it. Brian Smith has been getting teary eyed nostalgia love from Eels fans this week but the main criticism of his side was that they were chokers!

I'm not tanning BA's bald little scalp for failing to fix something that like a dozen other coaches couldn't fix either to be fair.

Let’s be real for a minute, people want to talk about the lack of playing talent when talking down expansion but the biggest lack of talent in the game is coaches. There is f**k all good coaches and basically once you’re stuck without one you get stuck on the merry go round of shit coaches and supposed super coaches who have only ever been assistant coach.

As a Warriors fan, you have to be very VERY careful when you think the grass could be greener, coaching wise. We also flicked a coach who'd made the finals four out of his last five years, and never really looked like winning a premiership. 11 years later...
