How can refs rule on sezers eyes though. What they can see is sezer was flat footed and afoa run into him.

I mean honestly its rugby league not nfl. Players in offside positions shouldnt be running into defenders

I agree with this post 100%. A defender should not have to even consider a runner who is in an offside position. If a runner who is offside makes any contact with a defender that impedes him it should be a penalty.

I don't know why they had to look at that SKD try so many times last night. It should have been clear after ONE viewing!

Wrong. Afoa ran straight through Sezer. Made no attempt whatsoever to not instigate contact with a defender while not carrying the ball.

Referee immediately called a no-try and the video ref only had to take one look at it.

Clear no try.
Couldnt be more wrong. Afoa 'didnt run through' sezer, sever mover across his line towards afoa. Then, Sezer proceded to wrap his arms around Afoa. Had he held his line, there would have been no gap.

Watch the reply. You were obviously watching a different game.

Right but how could sezer have avoided afoa ?

By not moving in on him in the first place. The reason sezer was there, is because he put himself there.

The bloke to Sezers right (I cant make him out) had afoa covered before the pass from Leuluai was thrown. Sezer, incorrectly anticipating that Afoa was going to the recieve the ball, moves in to help his man make the tackle.

There was a gap between sezer and the guy to his right. That gap closed when sezer moved in. He could have stayed out and let the other guy make a one on one tackle, but he moved in. He was also up out of his line slightly (watch where he is in relation to croker)

If sezar doesnt make the conscience effort to move in on Afoa, theres no gap.

What makes it worse is that Sezer turns his body and wraps his arms around afoa eliminating his own chances of defending to his left.

This is the dumbest rationalisation of a player in an off-side position deliberately running through a defender that I've ever seen.

How? Don't say "its dumb". Explain why its dumb. Sezer clearly moves in when he didnt need too. Afoa drew in the defence which he is pefectly entitled to do and Sezer fell for it

Watch from 2:50 onwards and ignore the dumb bloke talking in the background. Anasta and Gaz explain it better than I.

Afoa initiates contacted with a flat footed defender standing in the line and makes no attempt to avoid him while he's not carrying the ball in an offside position.

Ref called it in real time and that's what everyone saw in the replay.

I've said this a few times but if you want it explained again I can try double spacing if that might help?

I'll try to dumb this down for you....

Afoa DID not initiate contact. Sezer INITIATED the contact. He moved in to the line that Afoa was going to run through. Whats Afoa supposed to so when hes running full tack through a gap? "Oh sorry bro, you are blocking me... I'll just magically stop now".

Afoa ran straight through Sezer, silly.

That's why the ref called no try and the video ref backed him up.

He ran through a gap. That gap wasnt avliable because sezar moved in. Afoa had nowhere to go.

I get what you are saying butI can't explain it any more without drawing diagrams

The gap wasn't available because defenders were standing in the way.

If there's no gap, don't run straight through a defender if you're a decoy runner. Or, if your decoy runner has run straight through a defender, don't run through the hole created by it to score a try.

Pretty f**king simple, yes?

There was a gap, watch the footage. Afoa went for the gap. As he approached the gap, Sezer moves in (initiating contact), at which the gap is closed. By this time, Afoa had nowhere to go. He can't stop, nobody physically could in that position.

Or, if your decoy runner has run straight through a defender, don't run through the hole created by it to score a try.

lmao. Its a decoy runners job to create gaps by confusing the defense.

Don't mind me interrupting but you have me worried about my eyesight, I reckon Sezer had stopped moving well before the bloke contacted him. Sezer is entitled to remain stationary anywhere he wants, he can even brace himself for the inevitable contact which if it is made is illegal
