There was a bit of a preview article in the Cairns Post today but in true CP style they have mucked everything up.....(they referred to Mossman as 'Port Douglas'....I mean, come on!)

In addition, they have mucked some of the coaches up (unless Roos, Mareeba and Suburbs have all done a swap).

Assuming the player transfers are correct, then here it is:

Coach - Matt Clifford
Gains - Matt Morice (Souths Logan Qld Cup), Ben Ketchell (ex Innisfail), Marva Makatoa, Eskell Sitapa (New Zealand)

Mareeba
Coach - John Granier

Losses - nil

Mossman-Port Douglas
Coach - Ian Steley

harsh, but true.

but to be fair it wasn't working.

I still reckon a fourth side combining Isa and york leagues, and maybe even NT.

How's Robbie David go up there ? He was one of the fastest wingers I've ever seen when he was with Wynnum for a year.

Atherton have actually lost more than those listed. Gone are, Bing Rockley, Matt Connelly, Brett Dixon, Shaun Halliday, Wade Broadley, Justin Wallace, Ryan Wolf and Geoff Starzzeri. The entire forward pack from their Grand Final side is gone for one reason or another (jobs, retirement) so a new side is taking the filed.

Sharks coming up to feed tonight then?

The Cairns Post is getting decidedly dodgy in their coverage of local league

Atherton beat the Sharkies 18-14 after Mossman led 10-8 at halftime.

The Sharks scored in the first five minutes of the second half to extend their advantage to 14-8, and had two further tries disallowed (held-up and double movement). A skirmish broke out around the 60th minute with one player from each side binned. Atherton settled first and leveled the scores in the 67th minute with a try under the posts, and won the game in the 78th minute with a try in the corner after playing most of the second half in the Sharks' half.

Well done to both sides

You forgot about the other Atherton player being sin binned right on half time. That would have to be the worst A grade game I've seen for a long time. Too much dropped ball, penalties galore.

Plenty of room for improvement then

I thought the Sharks played alright....definately not Top 5 material, but not bottom feeders either....

tully vs kangaroos
roos started off with a hiss and bang 36-4 halftime.
tully completed only 2 sets in frst half and had the ball for about 10 minutes of that frst half.
2nd half big improvment from tully who with 5 minutes to go were only down by 4.
was a very niggly match, tobin mcguiness sent off for punchin tully 5/8th in the back of the head then kicked him when he was on the ground. other player to be sent off for roos was sent off for eye gouging.
matt morice sent off for punching.
jason joinbee went off with an injury to ankle not suer if he will be right for foley shield.

Hey, don't worry....you're 50% towards equalling last year's mark already, with 17 rounds to go. Congratulations!

Seriously, Ivanhoes should be much improved this year. Much, much, much improved, maybe!
