A bit of judicary news then....

Tobin McGuinness (Kangaroos) - striking - 8 matches
Donny De Busch (Kangaroos) - tripping, kicking or striking another player; disputing ref's decision; contary conduct - not guilty
Matt Morice (Tully) - tripping, kicking or striking another player - 1 match
Brendan Arcidacono (Mareeba) - tripping - 1 match
Stephen Chisholm (Ivanhoes) - biting - subject of a referee's report...to be continued

McGuinness was sin-binned for a high tackle on Yarrabah's Kirston Maloney in the major semi-final last season, with his punishment upgraded to a send-off after he shaped to punch Maloney as he walked off and continued to remonstrate with opposition players and the referee as he left the field.

Initially suspended up to and including Round 3 of this year's competition, McGuinness was eligible to line up for his new club in Round 1 after successfully completing an anger management course. (Obviously, didn't work!)

Bomber I thought I put in my tips but must have stuffed up somewhere.
I picked Brothers, Atherton, Tully, Ivanhoes and Innisfail but give me the one if you want.

Foley Shield this weekend, DH....you have a reprieve of sorts......;-)

I had a foolproof tipping system last season.....Brothers, and whoever was playing Ivanhoes  Two certain points each week!

Well, there is no Cardwell team as i would support them but i like tully as a town when i was up there 2 years ago. Reminds me of my home town here in melbourne.

but with a lot more rain (thanks for it being the wet season)

Haha, no offence taken I hope chemicalstorm :D The more CDRL supporters on this forum, the better.

My tips

BROTHERS against Suburbs
MOSSMAN against Tully - apparently the halfback is the weak link ;-)
ATHERTON against Innisfail
MAREEBA against Yarrabah
IVANHOES against Kangaroos

tully vs mossman
TULLY WIN 28-12. hlftime score 12-0
tully lead the whole game never looked like losing.
dropped off slightly in 2nd half. defense was key for tully forcing mossman to make alot of errors.

Rightio then, Round 2

Innisfail 40 d. Atherton 6
Leprechauns run rampant in second half

Mareeba 62 d. Yarrabah 4
Fringe first grader Alex Starmer could have sealed himself a starting gig

Tully 28 d. Mossman 10
Tigers concede two late tries in superb defensive display

Brothers 72 d. Suburbs 14
Steve Singleton scores seven tries, possible CDRL record

Ivanhoes 34 d. Kangaroos 28
Lots of chest beating from the Knights - but who have they beaten?

Table:

Brothers 4
Innisfail 4
Ivanhoes 4
Kangaroos 2
Mareeba 2
Tully 2
Atherton 2
Mossman 0
Suburbs 0
Yarrabah 0

Next games - FOLEY SHIELD vs Mackay at Tully, April 9

This week's games - get your tips in by 6:00pm Saturday!
I'm not really sure where the games are being played.

Kangaroos v Mareeba
Atherton v Ivanhoes
Yarrabah v Mossman at Yarrabah
Brothers v Innisfail
Tully v Suburbs

My tips
Mareeba
Atherton
Mossman 8)
Brothers
Tully

Interesting to see if Singleton can keep up the try-scoring - 7 against Suburbs last week, then 5 against Mackay in the Foley Shield.

Mareeba d. Kangaroos 44-16 at Vico Oval
Brothers d. Innisfail 22-8 at Stan Williams Park
Tully d. Suburbs 46-40 at Alley Park

Standings:

Brothers - 6
Ivanhoes - 6
Innisfail - 4
Mareeba - 4
Tully - 4
Mossman - 2
Kangaroos - 2
Atherton - 2
Suburbs - 0
Yarrabah - 0

Next round of matches - April 23/25

Atherton v Kangaroos at NQ Hardware Stadium
Mareeba v Mossman-Pt Douglas at Davies Park
Suburbs v Yarrabah at Alley Park
Tully v Brothers at Tully Showgrounds
Ivanhoes v Innisfail at Smithfield

Tipping - absent tippers get 4/5 this round for tipping all the away teams
Bomber - 6 + 4 = 10
tullykiwi06 - 5 + 4 = 9
Akdrob - 4 + 4 = 8
Dirty Hoe - 3 + 4 = 7
Stewbum - 1 + 1 = 2

Stew....I gave you 1 point to start with because that was the results of the away teams from the first two rounds. Absent tippers are always given the away sides.

Pretty good round for tipping, unless you're Stewbum ;-)
