The Case for Adelaide.....

My little input on this..

My company supports RL quite a lot.. and all of that is as im based in Brisbane, however my head office is actually Adelaide!

I can confirm that they know of 'rugby'.

My CEO went to Rams games! think about this, the CEO of a multinational company went to Rams games, and since then has had no one to support.

He said they all support their AFL team and then if theres an ADL rugby team they support it.

Sponsor dollars are there, population is there, facilities are there.
Rams were linked with the Wests Panthers in the Queensland Cup. Norths Devils were linked to Storm. Both teams played in the Q Cup 1998 GF if my memory is correct. Maybe an Adelaide team could form a link to both Wests Panthers and Norths Devils to form a base in Brisbane, call themselves the Adelaide Devils, black and red stripes of Panthers as their colours. Wests would regain a spot in the Queensland Cup. Fans of Norths and Wests would adopt Adelaide as their team or 2nd team.

Storm get good ratings in Brisbane, thanks to their strong links with Norths, success and Queensland immortals who’ve played for them. Maybe something similar can happen for an Adelaide team that will make them a valuable asset to the NRL.

The Storm get good ratings in Queensland for the exact same reason that the Raiders did in 80s and 90s, because they have a lot of the best Queenslanders playing for them.

It's got nothing to do with their links with Norths Devils back in the day, and as soon as those players move on and aren't replaced by ones of similar stature their fan base in Queensland will dwindle in a generation or so.

Also Adelaide should be allowed to build their own identity, not be forced to take on the history of an old club from the "heartlands" because it'll make a handful of fans who are incapable of moving on feel good about themselves for half a second.

Nobody will watch in Perth & Adelaide regardless. Not much exposure
if there was a team in perth though regarless of fans/attendance/tv viewership there will still be more exposure around the city and in that cities media/news than without one - product placement is never supposed to be "obvious" its something that people subconsciously pick up on in everyday life

Too bad - more fans in Gosford & they'll never have a team.

If we can grow perth from 10k to 60k it is basically about the same TV audience growth as we will get with Brisbane2, except it will be new fans not just repeat ones. Perth gets 100k plus for GF and SOO so the interest is there.

Sydney can't get that many afl fans after 40 years - won't happen

In Adelaide’s first year they outstripped all Sydney clubs average attendance. All stats on page 1 of this thread here. And similarly for the yearly storm n roosters games held at the AO.

Perth and Adelaide are far more viable and profitable options than CC or CQld. Crowds and increased viewership.

I still think the best option for Adelaide and Perth is to strike some sort of deal with a couple of Sydney clubs, similar to what Hawthorne and North Melbourne have with the Tasmanian government. Clubs have shown they're willing to take games to the country if the price is right.

Tigers to become the Western Tigers, 6 games in Perth and Magic Round at Perth Stadium in exchange for a sizeable fee from the WA government. They're already a nomadic club. Both parties win. WA government get events and Tigers/NRL get more money and exposure in fumbleball land. This would help them go from being a fringe top 8 team to one that is regularly in the finals.
