That would leave Cronulla, Penrith, St George, Parramatta, Souths and Easts as the only options for relocation. I cannot see any of them leaving Sydney for Adelaide or Perth.

Easts are a perfect fit. They have no juniors and would get a whole state. They dont represent Sydney just a beach in Bondi

They bring profile and lots of used cars to sell

Their colours align with South Australia colours just add yellow

And they have been succesful recently with attracting 20k crowds in Adelaide and struggle for crowds away from the SCG member pool

Please don’t send 52-point losers to South Australia.

Thank You.

if this did happen we would be left with a you beaut stadium at moore park and noone playing there, as well as noone representing the upper class areas of Sydney

Not necessarily saying easts shouldn't be moved because of this, just that you would need to have one of the other bunched up clubs come in and replace them

Wouldn't Manly Warringah be a better option for relocation?

I think you may find South Sydney will be moving back as Moore Park has been in the South Sydney electorate since 1893

Have to have team on the peninsula just like you will need the CC Bears to reclaim Northern Sydney & CC

what the game really needs is a club that appeals to the whole northern region. Being on the peninsula isn’t doing that. Manlys crowd avg a couple of years ago at brookvale was less than 9k, that’s how appealing they currently are!

You make it sound like they have improved since, last year for the regular season it was only 11k.. (I mean sure, I guess thats improvement)

I do not see how relocating the Sea Eagles to Gosford would harm rugby league in northern Sydney. It's still within driving distance for diehard fans. I don't know anything about the area, but from the comments I've seen on the internet by people who traverse the area, Manly is a difficult place to reach.

The peninsula is a isolated area with only 3 roads to access it. No rail line and one ferry to the city.

Manly and the CC while physically close are miles apart due to major harbour and 4 national parks that split the regions. And thats after you battle the traffic to get off the peninsula.

The public transport way of travel is - bus to Manly, ferry to Wynyard train to Central the train to Gosford about a 2-3
h trip.

CC has only one road and rail line in and out of Sydney. Where Newcastle, NSO Leichhardt, WSS, ANZ, Belmore, Penrith or SFS are closer than Brookvale by car travel time due to freeway access depending on traffic.

Not to mention that the F3 into the CC is a parking lot on Friday evenings and every Sat & Sun lunchtime

Yikes!

Which area of northern Sydney would be most central and easiest to access?

Weekend rail services Hornsby, Strathfield, Central. So SFS, ANZ, NSO and WSS are easiest to get to.

There is a natural link to the Bears territory which extends to Berowra along the F3. F3 exits into Bears northern junior heartlands with many junior teams playing the northen Bears juniors or southern Newcastle teams in trials.

When the North Connex opens it will bring WSS, ANZ, NSO and SFS even easier to get to.

Moving manly anywhere means there’d be no team in Sydney on the north side of the harbour. And what other sport would absolutely look to capitalise on that...

I’m not a manly fan but they should absolutely stay put. Like any team, with success on the field comes the crowds. They’ve been crap for a while now.

They've had 7 gfs in the past 30 years, thats pretty successful, i wouldn't be righting off the sea eagles... theyve had lean years too, and just last year made the finals and progressed to week 2, on a very underrated roster, with tom turbo injured mind you, lots of people love to hate on them, but its what gives them that uniqueness that each club has, there's is backs against the wall, hated, and underdog, i actually think its a vital club, out of the sydney clubs, and not due to its geography, but thats kept them from any talk of relocation.

In regards to a better stadium area, i would think a mini bankwest style stadium in Northbridge would be easier to get to from the City, North shore and from Warringah. Its more centralised than Brookvale, and means that other sports or clubs maybe able to play there too..... example sydneyFc, NorthsReserves, even Sydney Roosters if moore park fails its rebuild

The best way for the Sea Eagles to stop being one of the most suggested teams for relocation would be for them to finally take the jump from their nest on the tip of a peninsula and take flight to a location more central to the WHOLE of North Sydney

ATM I cant see any evidence of them trying to appeal to more than just Manly, and seem adamant on staying at brookvale, which is a better dog park than it is an NRL stadium

This is one of the best posts I've seen on here. Manly could be so much bigger and add so much more to RL if they stopped being an insular club isolated on the peninsular. They add nothing to the northern Sydney localities that aren't in Manly or Warringah. It would be better having a team that can tap into as much of the area as possible.

Bears in 1908 was that team

Even when they were in GFs and winning them, their crowds were poor. Their fanbase is small and doesn't extend much past Manly and Warringah. I think their refusal to promote their brand outside of their vicinity when they took over the Northern Eagles' licence in 2003 will come back to haunt them one day.
