I think silver or lighter aged ones. Depending how much tequila flavour you want. I like a Reposado, blanco is the cleanest, anejo is too strong (and a waste).

Cuervo is probably the standard but I find it very astringent esp the silver. It's been a long time but if the ones you can regularly find, Espolon or El Jimador are decent

Got the El Jimador as it was a bit cheaper than the Espolon and thought it the first couple of Margis are stuffed up it wont matter as much. Will be interesting to see how long till they are made though now seeing we have all the ingredients, wont be tonight though as it is a school night for me with work tomorrow.

Better half first attempt at making Margarita's, bloody decent, wouldn't be unhappy if i was served it an a pub or club. Have to work more on salting the glass properly though.
The saltiness of the home made guacamole, marinated artichokes and caper berries are a great foil for it. Very happy.

Having some Cuba Libre's with Ratu Dark Rum from recent Fiji trip.

Straight it's defs a classic molasses rum which I'm not a major fan of, but it's fine. In a Libre though it's very good. Brings a tonne of Demerara sugar flavour to it. Not worth Aussie prices anyway but worth bringing back from a junket.

On the subject of a Cuba Libre @Scott Gourley's Lovechild that Archie Rose White Rye you hated makes a killer "Cuba Libre"

Thank goodness they found a use for it other than as a weed killer.

Looking forward to the tasting notes.

Why wait? It'll be an Islay so it's gonna be a powerful, forceful whiskey that doesn't muck around. Briny, a little salty, but also slightly sweet. Strong yet surprisingly delicate. A whiskey for all occasions. Would go well with blue vein cheese, if you're into that sort of thing.

Got gifted this courtesy of a misdirected Vintage Cellars delivery, not sure how good it is and the only thing i know about it is the company is owned by Dwayne Johnson. Oh well , have gone from a few months ago of only having a couple of tequila minis in the spirit cabinet to having two full bottles of tequilas ( one blanco , the other a reposado ) there now, have to seriously start making more margaritas .
