That Dr Strange cast could go straight from the MCU set to the west-end to do A portait of a lady.

Oh and according to one of the Russo brothers they have 67 heros on their storyboard for the the Inifnity Wars.

They'd do a good job, too.

Cumberbatch is an awesome talent.

It's an opinion, and it's not an isolated view.

I'm not sure why you people get so pissy about it - I hate Superman. Deal with it, ffs.

If a superhero has every power under the sun - like, he can do almost everything - and is tougher to kill than Steven Seagal, then I find it difficult to connect with the character and feel genuinely concerned that he's in true danger.

Seriously - it's my opinion, and I've expressed it several times, and I thought we had moved on.

More power to you if you love him, but I can't stand him.

A lot of his fans talk about the psychological aspects to Superman, but imo he's not any more interesting than Kyle Rayner or even Arthur Joseph Curry.

Sure, being a being able to destroy a galaxy with a single sneeze, and choosing not to, is a difficult burden to carry.

But is Kal-El any more interesting, twisted or complex a character than other bug DC heroes? Imo, no.

Combined with his huge arsenal of powers and near-invulnerability, I just feel nothing towards him.

But - and I stress this again - it's my opinion. You don't agree. Fine. Whatever. You love Superman - that's cool.

But you need to realise that not everyone loves him, and that's OK.

Honestly mate, im not a big fan of his either. He is a bit over powered in the comics

Was just commenting that I thought it was strange that a character had to die to make him interesting

Not die, per se - but when a character is almost invincible, I find it really tough to get nervous in a, "Will he make it out alive?" sense.

I think it's pretty important to have a nemesis who could genuinely defeat the hero, to make us root for the hero.

I think what Superman stands for is brilliant, but as a character, I'm not a huge fan.

You could actually read my post and it's context. That might help. But you're clearly only going to be swayed or interested in external or physical conflicts. Of course, Superman has never had any of those..

Ask yourself, why is Superman the biggest and most recognisable superhero in the world?

Most recognizable, probably. Biggest, hes a very long way from that.

Spiderman is the biggest and most popular character in the world and its not even close.

In 2014 Spidey was responsible for $1.3 Billion worth of merchandise sold, next best was Batman at $494 while Superman was 3rd highest individual (4th overall) at $277 million

67?!

WTF Marvel studios? Surely they aren't actually going to do this.

How could you not though. The fact theyre fighting Thanos in the Infinity Wars demands they have a cast of millions. Just having 20 would be ridiculous.

Its not like theyre all going to have speaking parts anway, probably just see em pop up in fight scenes e.g. a glimpse of Luke Cage and Iron Fist kicking the shit out of Thanos minions in Harlem.

They dont currently have half that number of costumed characters in the MCU yet, they will have to just plonk them in or rush them through

Feels very much like its going to be a mess imo

Spidey's merch is targeted at kids, because those Tobey McGuire movies were for kids.

Nolan's Batman films were dark - maybe even too dark for kids who may buy merch.

All those merch numbers prove is who sells more action figures tbh.

By the time Avengers infinity war comes out we would have seen Captain America: Civil War, Dr Strange, Guardiians 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Spidey, Captain Marvel, Inhumans.

Not to mention all the characters in Agents of Shield, Jessica Jones, Daredevil.

Then you'll add a few extra movies/TV Shows they decide to add along the way.

I don't think that number of superheroes is too many. I was kinda hoping those numbers for civil war. 5 v 5 isn't really a civil war. It's a scuffle.

I dont think that pov holds up.

Theres not much between Batman and Spiderman in America in regards to merchandise sales so that sort of puts paid to the bat-man is darker theory.

Its popularity outside America that helps spiderman put daylight between him and the rest.

I was referring to markets outside the US, though.

Americans will buy GTA V for their 5-year olds.

No doubt Spidey is extremely popular, but is he, as a brand, more recognisable than Batman?

I think it's a tough call.
