DC are keeping their TV and movie worlds separate

Not sure Gustin would have fit into what they are doing anyway. He's a little light on presence

Ezra Miller is 100 times better than Gustin. Great actor.

The director of The Flash movie hasn't even directed a film before, all he has done is written a few crappy adaptation scripts, not a good sign.

Wrote a small review in the 'what movies have you seen' thread.

In summary:

- Great performances from Affleck and Irons in particular.
- Stale performance from Cavill --> the Superman character as a whole, despite his global appeal, lacks resonance with audiences.
- Gadot seemed relatively decent from the screen time she received. Would not go as far as to say she stole the show as some have pointed out.
- Eisenberg was OK. Some incredible highs, particularly a couple of his quotes which will be memorable in years to come. However, inconsistencies with character and performance negate the positives Eisenberg brought in his best scenes. Want to see a more twisted and sadistic version in the next film. Really wished Bryan Cranston got the nod for this role, he would have been epic (with the benefit of hindsight).
- Lois Lane almost ruined the movie for me. Have never wanted a somewhat central character dead like I do with this character. Excessively interruptive and overwhelmingly nagging. She is the Felicity of this movie. Feminine intuition does not need to be exhibited in every film Snyder.
- An absolute visual and cinematographic masterpiece.
- The Batman suit is the best suit seen in live action.
- I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching the movie a 2nd time for a further understanding of the philosophical undertones Snyder explored. Ideological differences could have been examined further, but the best part of the script concerned assessing the what ifs that surround these characters (e.g. what if there really was to be an alien-like figure come to Earth? The result would be something similar to what we see re the senate committee).
- In saying the above, the script lacked coherence and seemed convoluted. The movie could and definitely should have been dispersed between at least 2 movies (Batman v Superman which would then have lead into a Dawn of Justice sequel).
- Batcave was EPIC! Ala the Batmobile.
- All in all, the spectacle alone, and the brilliance of various individual scenes (not as one big jigsaw, but as pieces of the jigsaw) made this movie not only watchable, but thoroughly enjoyable.
- Although this movie is not the greatest movie with the most transparent plot of all time, it did enough to warrant a 7.5/10 in my view.

Bring on the Justice League (hopefully with a more centralised and streamlined plot).

Btw, the Flash had 2 cameos in the movie

The surveillance footage was the crappy one, the "dream" where Flash screams "Lois is the key" and "You were right about him" is what's good and bad about this movie

Good because it shows some depth to the story and setting up future plots

Bad because I, like most people I assume had no idea what was going on at the time and was left confused. I needed this part to be explained to me

Cavill did an interview about this point, and he said the version of Clark you're describing is more the Christopher Reeve/Richard Donner mould.

The comics and animated series version of Clark shows him to have a bit more confidence

Yeah this is true. Read most comics with Clark in it and he's not bumbling or clumsy. The contrast is nice between the two but really has no place in this universe.

Should read the Superman Earth One comics. Clark dates a prostitute!

Good points, I'll buy that.

But I still think they should have at least given him "some" persona.

The alter-ego to any superhero is just as fascinating as the hero itself, it's their attempt / facade at integration into the 'real world'. Bruce Wayne, Peter Parker... if you do it right you could merge the same personality into both e.g. Tony Stark

Here it's just out of the spandex and into the specs, same lifeless guy

Just finished watching it, it was entertaining and I did enjoy it.

But man I really think it could have been much better.

thought Batfleck and Irons were excellent and Gadot was good as WW.

Lois just shitted me to tears and I had no idea what the go with Lex was. Thought he was having a stroke at one point.

Ironic Eisenberg aped Zuckerberg for Lex. Or just mailed in the same performance?

He nailed Zuckerberg, and in fact if he *did* actually mail in the same performance it would have made a great Lex. Pulled the same shtick in Now You See Me to good effect.

This wasn't that quiet douchebag arrogance, this was that annoying classroom twit who aced the spelling test nobody cares about.

Can't blame Eisenberg completely, it was an intentional gamble that bombed spectacularly.
Decent actor giving a terrible performance.

watched it a second time. really bad editing from Snyder. I think he thought that the 3 hour version was going to be released but WB/DC told him to cut it down. I really think they need to push him aside.

I liked Wonder Womans scenes when she did not talk, bad feeling for her stand alone movie, wish they went with a real actress.
Jesse Eisenberg was good, AFfleck was the highlight no doubt.
loved the small cameos.
I think that Lois Lane really did not need to be in the movie. Honestly over the damsel in distress shit.
We needed more scenes with Superman and an explanation on why they hate him but decided to build a statue and shrine of him...?

I have been harsh on DC fans but I do think we can all agree that this movie could have been 10x better.
Snyder needs the flick asap. I guess its too late for Justice League movie but I hope its ok and edited better.

Its not the end DC fans, just a long bumpy ride.
7/10 for me. I will wait for the directors cut with high hopes though.

Agree entirely with the bolded part. Lois Lane almost ruined the movie for me - horrible, horrible characterisation.

I remember reading that Cranston was originally meant to play Lex and Eisenberg meant to be Jimmy Olsen, but Snyder changed his mind for some reason

I think I'll hold my judgement on Snyder until I see the extended 3hr cut on DVD.

If it doesn't help with the flow of the film I will blame him. If it ends up being much better we can blame WB for not having the guts to release the 3hr version in cinemas.
