I just watched it again recently and it still plays well, certiainly alot better on 2nd and 3rd viewings. The theme of using masks as a cover was fleshed out well & I didnt mind the mandarin twist, suited the tone. Certainly the introduction of Dr Strange means a true Mandarin with his rings could be used now.

The only thing that raised an eyebrow for me was the use of Pepper Pots as the deus ex machina at the end.

And RDJ wisecracks because thats who Tony Stark is.

And RDJ wisecracks because thats who Tony Stark is.

There was too much of it in IM3 though imho, and at the wrong times.

Esp when that kid and that fanboy turned up, the whole build up to the third act was pretty much comic relief.

Too many plot holes too, why did he give away his home address exactly? Why didn't he mount a defence with all those remote suits? Why is the Iron Man suit suddenly destructible by a truck? I thought the arc reactor was crucial to keep him alive, now he can just remove it? Why blow up the suits in the end? Is he retiring? So Killian is the Mandarin, aren't they completely different comic book characters?

It was entertaining for sure, but not what the trailer promised which was my original gripe.

A few interesting news items over-night

*David Wenham will be a main charater in Iron-Fist
*Tessa Thompson (creed) will be in Thor:Ragnorok and future MCU films, possibly as Valkyrie. The more I hear about this the more Im anticipating it.
*Ryan Coogler is co-writing Black Panther
*Zack Snyder showed us how he'd direct Spider-man

Mate, that spoiler image of yours really hit a nerve with me some how. Almost spat out my coffee laughing - I actually really loved BvS, but man Snyder does have a pretty downbeat tone in his movies.

Batman Begins with magic (that's not a bad thing).

There was a Dr Strange movie script written in the 90's which stuck true to his origin i.e. broken man travels to tibet to find help and knowledge.

That movie never got made but the origin part of it did find its way to the screen when the guy who wrote the Strange script, David Goyer, wrote Batman Begins.

Embargo lifts at 7am (I think). I've read three reviews that broke embargo early (and weren't heavy on spoilers), and all three gave it 5/5, calling it the best marvel movie yet and the airport scene the greatest in any comic book movie ever.

Saaaaaa excited

As someone who likes comic book movies but has never read a comic book in my life ( and gets all my comic info of Wikipedia :p) my reaction to this trailer is 'WHAT THE f**k WAS THAT!'. In a good way of course, definitely intrigued.

Finally, a big budget superhero sequel that manages to be both effortlessly entertaining and utterly sobering, instead of just one of those things-or, as we've endured too frequently in the past, neither of them. (Looking at you, Batman v Superman.)

 rekt

I cant see that title remaining. It does tie in with the themes of the movie (there using John Hughes as a template) but its a bit self serving.

Marvel confirmed the other day they have creative control over the spiderman movies. Ironic thing is they would never of had to seek help if theyd listened to Feige in the 1st place as shown in the sony email leaks.

finally saw Batman vs Superman and I enjoyed it.

I was able to avoid all spoilers but got the general feel that people hated it beforehand so it might have helped having low expectations. on top of that my expectations were lowered further because good Superman movies are really hard to do(immortal hero beats bad guys, bad guy gets green rock, hero beats bad guy even with green rock). Punisher/Batman was a nice difference to the standard Batman. I'm looking forward to Wonder Women movie. IMO they shouldn't have shown the other JL guys and just leave it with the symbols.

solid 6/10 compared to the 2/10 that I thought it might be.
