People mentioned the hospital, the highlight for me was watching him skip around out the front of the hospital trying to detonate the bomb, absolutly golden moment that made me think he was an absolute creep and f**king hilarious at the same time. hahaha The Nurse suit!

Seen it, great movie. Glad I saw this as my last cinema was experience was Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, and the less said about that the better.

I was pretty skeptical about a few aspects of the movie, especially the raving about Heath Ledger and thinking it's just because he's dead ... but I've watched it and I'm converted, he took the Joker to another level. To take a character like that and do it better than Jack Nicholson, who you would think was born to play a character like the Joker, is incredible. He took it and not only ran with it, but I felt added another dimension. He couldn't do it without the rest of the cast though. Perhaps worth noting that this is one of the best blockbuster films I've seen in a while and of the main cast of 7 actors and actresses, only 3 are American (Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Morgan Freeman). Gyllenhaal was certainly the weakest of the bunch too. Having said that I quite enjoyed Eckhart's performance.

Just got home from seeing it.

Words can not describe the awesomeness, not just of the movie, but Ledgers performance.

The Dark Knight Breaks Opening Day Box Office Record!
Posted by Ashish on 07.19.2008

Dark Knight sets new record for biggest opening day EVER!

It's official, The Dark Knight has set a new record for the biggest opening day ever (and biggest single day ever)! The film pulled in an unbelievable $66 million on Friday, easily beating the old record of $59.8 million set by Spider-Man 3. The Dark Knight already set a new record for midnight showings, bringing in $18.4 million from midnight shows alone, surpassing the $16.9 million that Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith brought in at midnight on its opening day.

It seems that The Dark Knight is now projected to pull in $157 million over the weekend. If that holds, it will set a new record for biggest opening weekend ever. The current record is $151.1 million set by Spider-Man 3.

This will break it easy you'd think.

I know I'll be flamed for this, but here it goes.

I thought the movie was good. Great special effects, good story and good acting from Aaron Eckhart.
I enjoyed it, but I thought it was a tad too long. Unneccessary characters in the movie didn't help its flow either.

What I did think was brilliant was the performance of Heath Ledger. His portrayal of the Joker is the best movie performance I have seen in a very long time. For once, the hype was absolutely spot on with Heath Ledger.
This is what I found astounding about Ledger's performance. It would have been SO easy to overact the character, but Heath never fell into that trap. Despite the Joker being such a loud over-the-top character, Heath puts in a controlled, believable performance (while making us laugh at the same time).
I read that the Joker had more screentime than Batman. Well, it sure as hell didn't seem that way. I absolutely craved for more Joker time.

Without Heath Ledger, the movie would have been average. He is that good.

Agree with everything you said.

I'll add an extra point here. I felt that we learnt more about Two-face than the most interesting character in the film. That was a letdown and a missed opportunity by the filmmakers.

Don't get me wrong here, I thought the movie was good. But, don't bloody compare it to movies like "Heat" and "The Untouchables".

The movie does not move mountains. Unbelievable promotion and hype though.

On the Imbd site, it is listed as the number 1 movie of all time.

If it is better than even "Terminator 2", I'll give it away.

I actually thought that was one of the keys to the Joker character. We only knew so much about him. Afterall, he was the symbol of chaos and how much do we really know about psychotic individuals?

Thats what intrigues about them...we can study their childhood and what not but ultimately we will never know what goes through a psychopaths head, thus we will never ultimately know what drives them.

And that's what was best about the Joker character. Hhis unpredictability, his mysteriousness. All we really knew is that he craved destruction. He held no desire to steal money or jewells. The only thing he believed in was chaos and, to quote Stone Cold, "raise hell" while you're here.
