The Development

Are the plans that were released a few years ago even the current plans or direction they still want to go with?

They would have had to put a business case forward and it would have included some designs but maybe what they want or can get depends on how much money we get?
Total confusion for me.

Any plans that have been released in official comms from the club relating to the current development work should reflect the actual finished funded product.

Proposed works should be kept seperate awaiting funding or confirmation.

As far as I know there is zero approved work to the ground and amenities it’s all to do with the club side. Even then I’m still not clear how the terrace is integrated into the ground with that massive staircase on beer hill

What ever they do for capacity needs to be matched with the ability to serve food, drinks & merchandise fast and efficient.
Most people would spend double the amount of money they do if they could get what they want fast and easy.

Can you explain what you mean?
If you are talking about underground electrical cables, can they not be relocated?
We always had a massive power cable and frame on the hill. This got removed and the cables were planted underground.
Was a massive amount of work and very expensive.
I doubt they spend the money and time again to move them.
Also the question becomes where do they go next.

Chairmans Lounge will end up back in the club. Beer hill will return once the leagues club outdoor section is completed.

Surely the food outlets get moved back towards the fences once all the scaffolding comes down as well.

The cables aren’t underground.

They just took the tower off the hill and made the cables extend over the hill from each side instead. I’m too lazy to find a picture.

My understanding is they can’t build a stand there as the cables are still in the way

So if the capacity is lowered does the ground actually meet NRL standards then?🤔
I'd image is we are getting $50mil + then the current ET stand will be demolished and replaced with a brand new and larger capacity designed grandstand that will run the length of the field around to the southern stand and incorporate all of the COE plans rather than wrapping around and working with the limited existing stand as per the COE plans. Depending on what this costs than the rest would be for improvements to the east side in front of the new buildings.

yeah sounds about on it

i still think we should re configure the burns side and make a much steeper bowl all the way all the way along

Its fine for the cost at the time
someone once told me that it was built further back than it should have been
If you mean accidentally then that sounds about right. :)

Closer and angled better to use the space would be good. It just looks like a cheap version of what it could have been. Won’t change now though.

I thought they buried them

If the southern stand was closer it would impact the crowd numbers as when things are full so many people are jammed there. The southern is fine to me. A new ET that would connect to the Southern and wrap around to where the chairmans lounge is currently would do the trick.

I just can't work out how we can do another year or two away from home if required.

Agree. It would have to be 1 year max. From august through to March the year after next. 19 months total. Get in get out.

you would have to look deep into the financials there.

also, i suspect we would try front or back load a season with home games at shark park.
Say you did over 2023 - 2024 and in 2023 we had 8 home games in the first 12 weeksn and we played them all at sharks, then start construction then you havea whole year..15 months and end 2024 with say ...4 home games at the new shark park.

If they connect then the new stadium won’t be very large. The MP stand isn’t very high.

I know people will whinge if we move away to redo the stadium, they shouldn’t but they will because most fans are fair weather.

I’d take more games regional if we need to go for a year or two. To the highest bidder.
The rest play at the new SFS.

Another option is they could also close off the western half the ground during limited home games during the construction period. We moved mostly because of the road redevelopment and its impacts rather than the actual construction which is still happening now, though most of that would have also been completed in our time away without COVID.

Hopefully it can get announced soon but I don’t expect anything until after the election. Yep fully aware it’s a state decision but let’s see if they hold it.

If we're stuck with the northern hill because of the buried powerlines what needs to be done is both the ET and Porter Stands should be demolished and replaced with one giant wraparound three tier grandstand so the capacity can be the 20K-22K it was predevelopment.
