The Eels - Pearls of wisdom

LU logic no. 9999 - The number of players named in a trial squad indicates the seriousness that a team is giving to the match:crazy:

The Raiders lost a trial to Souths Logan a couple of years ago and were made soon favorites and promptly went out and made the 8

BY the end of the game the Eels were playing about 5 blokes who had only just finished playing a full game for Wentworthville.

Not saying this had much bearing on the result - they had lost the game well and truly before then...but they played with well more than 17 players.

Seriously mods sack up and ban that muppet doggiesbro. It's starting to get out of hand the way he targets me and I'm sick of it! Sick and tired of going into a thread and try to have conversations and he litters it with insults about me. Do something for f**ks sake

All players inevitably learn a few cliches they spin at every interview. Listening to any of them is like listening to a broken record!

Fear of public speech is a common problem, and yes, Sandow clearly isn't fit for it..

As for the 40 pts walloping.. yeah, I'd be worried..

i agree he has Ben Roberts qualities BUT in his favour is his youth. Has time to grow and adapt his game to a style ricky wants us to play. Roberts is set in his ways hence why he is probably going to be a utility option. That way he can be hooked easier without losing a play maker. Kelly will probably become a utility type role.

If anything Norman should be the utility and Kelly the structured half (more so than sandow). But I can't see him signing for a new club to be a utility/bench player. IMO either build around sandow ( outside backs/top shelf forwards) or ditch him altogether (someone out there would take him). But hey that's what Stuart is paid for right he'll sort it out.

Yeh sandow hasn't got the capabilities to be a structured half though. He's to off the cuff. If Kelly is halfback then Norman would be alright as five eight but with sandow it's to hot and cold with sandow and Norman. I'd say this year will define sandows time at eels under Stuart. If he doesn't pick up he will possibly get dumped

I wouldn't get too concerned at this stage. First real hit out together.

Obviously hoped for more but all it will take is a bit of momentum and confidence and they can be really competitive.

One thing is for certain, if everyone is writing off Parra now then they are probably going to easily beat those expectations. Judging form based on these meaningless trials is such a waste of time. I think Parra can make the 8 or come close as long as Hayne stays fit but we will all have to wait and see.

I think Stuart is suited to Orgin and one offs. I agree that he f**ks things up at club level.

I do find it interesting the way Stuart is talked up for his origin performance whilst Bellamy is treated like the worst coach in history for his. Both of them won sweet FA but you wouldn't know it reading threads about their respective performances.

I only started this thread because Sandow's comments were a stand out for mine. The sort of stuff you used to read in the Verbatim column in Inside Sport. Piss funny when isolated and highlighted.

"Our defence was good. It just didn't show on the scoreboard"

Oxymoron of the year.

Oh yeah you can see he isn't the brightest just from his interviews. He can hardly string 2 words together

Thing is is Stuart started to get NSW back into a good position even though we didn't win we were competitive etc while Bellamy took a pretty good origin squad with good depth and f**ked up. A coach with his credentials should have done a lot better

Ricky was the last coach to win a series with NSW in 05

FMD as some posters have said - it was a trial. Oh no the sky is falling.....
We should sticky this post (pardon the pun) and I guarantee you Parra will not finish last this year....

You know who isn't the brightest?

The fools who paid him 400k a year and said he was the best signing in the clubs history.

He's a dud.

Since it wasnt televised, he could say that and the masses will buy his bullshit assessment of how the match went.
"Defence was terrible and we were lucky not to concede more points" would have been more correct.
