Yeah. Good Friday was great. At the old's house we could just throw on the footy. Every public hol should be like that. If 9 doesn't want the extra game. Only show 1 Friday night the extra Sat night.
The broadcast of that Good Friday game (3:30pm pre-game show followed by 4:10pm kickoff), contrasted with that inexcusable gaffe at the Panthers/Tigers game where Ch9 went to an ad break as John Grant was speaking, shows that delayed broadcasts are definitely a thing of the past and something that needs to be done away with at the next rights deal. I don't agree with the majority of what Bunniesman says, but this was one of the very few things I do agree with and watching the Sunday Ch9 game is something that I find very difficult to do.
Whenever Ch9's done the rare Sunday game live (e.g. Warriors vs Manly Rd 1, Lockyer's Suncorp farewell vs Manly, 2010 ANZAC game), the broadcast has run a lot more smoothly. Ch9 takes ad breaks at the most inappropriate moments - when a passage of play is starting to build up - and like the Panthers/Tigers game, they ended up editing a few minutes out of the game as they were running overtime due to all the ads they took up in the first half. Disgraceful. Also, another issue I mentioned in another thread. A few years ago there was a game where Corey Parker (I think it was) had a kick from near the sideline to force the game into golden point. Given that the time was already 5:59pm, I knew before he kicked it that he missed it as Ch9 would never run a game that overlaps into the 6pm news timeslot (as was seen with the Tigers/Souffs GP game a few weeks ago, where it finished just in time for the 6pm news). So much for keeping away from electronic media and avoiding spoilers!
