A friend from Uni who doesn't post here but reads often, enlightened me to it. He had read this previously and clicked when he saw your question. He was sure it was a trick question. After that, I searched for the grand final in question and found my mate was right.I'd never have guessed it myself. Not that switched on in the history side of things when it comes to footy...a little but not much.

Correct. 1997 was the year. the blues drew their first match of the season with one of the SA teams and from then on won the rest.
