close enuff,the book (nz sports digest,july 1961) says that reg gasnier earns "not less than 1500 pound and it might be as high as 1800 pounds."
they break it down like this
50 pound per game-st george
20 pound for each state game
30 pound for each test/inter.
fee for attending the rep teams training session

he endorses various football equiptment,balls,boots,shoulder pads etc and this brings a down payment of between 150 and 300 quid as well as an end of season royalty for each endorsed item sold.
bussinessmen who support st george frequently present star players withcardigans,cameras,shirts,watches and slacks and he comes in for a large share of these.
in 1960, he turned down a 15,000 pound offer from wigan.
