I was just curious as to know if anyone remembers the first ever Footy Show that was held and what were the highlights of it? Was it much different/better back then, than it is today?

The very first Footy Show was an embarassment in different ways than it is nowadays. An extremely nervous Vautin was host, and Bob Fulton was a panelist. Manly had just been crushed by Canterbury, and Vautin was asking stupid questions about the game trying to set up some sort of discussion. He was as natural as Brad Mackay (who appeared in later shows before his uselessness saw him punted.) Naturally, Fulton refused to admit his side was beaten by a better team and gave numerous excuses in short sentences. The conversation was as lively as a dead mackeral. After many embarassing pauses and deafining silences, Vautin tried again with Fulton, saying something like "Manly aren't going too well this year are they?" and a peed off Fulton replied "No, we're going about as well as this show of yours," without a hint of a smlie.

Well Vautin's confidence has rocketed since those days, but the show is as just as painful to watch.

Yeah, you wonder what Fulton's got to be grumpy about several years later.

And Joey Johns slotting into the media? I wonder how many years he's got there.

In 2012 will he be Gus Goulding on us?

So long as he doesnt end up sitting next to Ikin and Walters calling the Queensland games.

No wonder Bennett sacked every Queenslander he could from his staff when he got the chance.

Theres far superior assesment of games spewing forth from our sharks buddies here on LU.

They should've put that on the Greatest Hits DVD and see if the sales would've just plummeted to the ground.

So, if Vautin hosted the show by himself, then how did Peter Sterling come into the situation (like, how did the Fatty-Sterlo duo form)? Was the set really low budget like the one today? Did things improve vastly the following year with Boltz and Blocker on there? What were the segments like in that first show, and the couple of years following it? What happened to the likes of Terry Hill, Ryan Girdler etc. that use to feature so prominently on the show?

Fatty is a tosser Haragon is boring and crack a fat is rigged and that;s gold is so lame
Matty Johns is the only bloke that makes it half decent though it is a try hard comedy show and not a Footy show
try and Get one of the Walters brothers down here or get Terry Hill

Sterling was there from the start as well. I remember Fulton saying that he combs his hair with a nail.

Good to see Girds back, and he's still looking as fit as ever.

Gaaaaaz seems to be on high rotation of late. And Benji's gone very quiet.......

Benji is boring. Giggles too much.
Good to see them having a lively debate about Williams and Anasta
