So you think SBW is on $1M a year...1/5 of the cap almost...OK

I know Carney was coming back, thats why his first year was shithouse money but you are clearly deluded if you think his contract was not backended, especially after his first season.

Panthers paid Jennings $200K for the first year at the Roosters.

No I think SBW came to play for peanuts cause he clearly isn't about money and money only.

Maloney agreed to play for free too.

FFS I know he would be on good money, I just dont think he is taking 1/5 of the cap all on his own...but hey you must know more than me clearly you are the man with all the figures

Sorry they paid $200K for first year, so basically half his salary for the first year of contract
His salary for us was over $600k for this season. He's on ~$500k a season for the Roosters, and I can't see them having back ended his contract to keep him cheap for 2013. Otherwise they would just be in the same situation as the Panthers were in a year or two.

DoggiesBro you're always good for a laugh. You have no idea what other teams pay their players.

Yeah I get all that but it was documented in the same breath as the $200K payout that Roosters couldnt afford the money he was on so they gave him an extra year on the contract...or so it was reported that way anyhow...i wouldnt know exact figures...but as far as backending Jennings contract next year..well the Roosters have 12 months to clear the decks to fit him in.

I wouldn't worry too much about LODS age, he is an exceptional athlete. Even with his explosions on the field, off the field he will be a great asset to the club.

Dont know why people are bleeting on about salary cap with these signings....
Minichiello - didnt play for near 3 years but was paid shitloads so his last contract would have been heavily reduced.
Jennings - Panthers are paying for half of his contract
LOD - Coming back from ESL at 32, cant demand too much

Lost Anasta, Perrett, Masoe, J. Carney, Leilua, T. Carney the year before who was never really replaced who had a back ended contract, Losing Cherrington so it would seem...
We should still have some coin left over after losing all those players considering the current roster of very young players as well

You seem to have left Mr OMG off your list. I'm sure SBW didn't come cheap.

NRL, SL's retirement home lol.

The bigger issue for SL and expat Aussies playing there was the information from the Huddersfield official that the taxation laws had changed and that meant a substantial reduction in LOD's cash in the hand.

It related to off-shore pensions, as a former tax dodging Aussie who worked in the UK, I assume they have tightened up on the loophole that allowed people to set up companies offshore and pay themselves a tax free "pension" or "dividend"

This information was also interesting
O'Donnell made just 23 appearances in two injury-hit seasons in Super League,

Towards the end of his stay in NQ he certainly started developing an ability to find an injury.

Ever since that wishbone tackle he was often injured and never quite returned to his previous form. This seemed to frustrate him and he copped some big suspensions.

Don't even try and do the maths to work out how the Roosters have fit these players under the salary cap because the bags of cash that are placed in the boots of Fords given to players wives, girlfriends, sisters and mothers by Corrupt Uncle Nick doesn't count in the salary cap.

Politis is the 2nd biggest scourge on the game after Khoder Nasser.

When and if Nick Politis kicks the bucket, the Roosters will fold as a club within 2 years. No juniors, no fans, most importantly - no cash.

Well when the salary cap auditor is a Roosters fan, you can hardly expect to hear of the Roosters being pinged for the salary cap
