Not the afternoon grand final thing again. Why was the grand final held in the afternoon - because the lighting technology wasn't good enough until the eighties, not because Joe Bogan wanted a barbecue. Of course all the nostalgia heads who want a Sunday afternoon GF because it's tradition forget that it was previously a Saturday afternoon for about 907 years.

I don't think the afternoon GF arguement is unwarranted by Australian RL fans.

To even mention the US market as a reason to move it though, is cooked AF.

The Sunday night grand final is ugly for people who don’t get a public holiday the next day.

Don't you know that BBQs can't happen after 3PM?

And won't someone think of the children's bed time?

Karl Stephenovic is nutz, quote me on that
This ‘USA push’ has reached new levels of ridiculousness. RL is USA currently has 12 active teams that are basically a loose, semi organised collection/network of mainly Aussie blokes that get together to play in local parks and drink beer. There is absolutely no possible way to transition that to even a semi-pro league. EVER.

Toronto would be in Canada.

But, yes, it looks like RL is stronger on the East of USA. The teams on the West Coast are full amateur.
Yeh so what ?

with an Aussie investor he took rugby league from basically zero to crowds of 8 to 10k in 3 years

here’s what your missing … it’s the product

Any pro comp in the USA or anywhere new for that matter isn’t coming from “building the foundations” “focusing on grassroots first” or any other cliche you can throw at it, not in our lifetimes anyway. Only a shitload of money is going to make it happen.
