Just whinging? That clubs in heartland are getting denied funding, whilst PVL eats dinner in Washington with toffs and politicians.
Just because the Western Clydesdales, and note the gentrified name that people usually cry over, aren't being funded doesn't mean that the ARLC isn't contributing money to that region.

And next time PVL should decline the offer of a white house dinner and the ability to network with powerful and influential people just so a team the ARLC doesn't believe should be in the Qcup gets some money?

Seems reasonable.

What possible reasoning could they have for a semi-pro team in Toowoomba not being “in the best interests of the game”? That’s a piss poor quote regardless.

Its $350k a year, yes all of them in Qcup,
NSW cup teams aligned with NRl clubs get more.

Basically the NRL has told QRL they wont be funding the Clydesdales as, and I quote Abdo,:

See this is the kind of leadership the rfl should have cutting the deadwood but it doesn’t so the game bleeds money over there

Do not the QRL get funding from the NRL?
Does this mean funding for all clubs in the Qld Cup get funding from the NRL, not the QRL?
I thought the QRL chose which teams to play in that competition.
I'm a little confused, and could be very ignorant of the situation.

How is having a qrl cup team in a regional city deadwood? Do you not believe in regional rugby league, or in a second tier for the sport?
Haven't there been a stack of NRL first graders come out of Toowoomba region?

National reserve grade is the future

I wish the nswrl and qrl were abolished both dinosaurs

QRL gets funding from NRL, around $20mill a year. From this they give the Hostplus clubs $350k a year.

It would seem Toowoomba re-entered the Hostplus cup this year after a log absence and the QRL wants NRL to pay the $350k extra a year it costs them, but NRl has said no as they dont want a second tier team in Toowoomba.

Now it may be the NRl just doesnt want to spend any more money on grassroots (too busy paying for vegas maybe?), or it may be that bizarrely it doesnt think Toowoomba should have a club, or it may be they dont want the Hostplus cup growing and getting stornger as they want to cull it for a NRL reserve grade in the future. Or some other reason I suppose
NRL has refused to comment.

You can have both. Or dont you want to see any second tier clubs in Australia? What about those areas that dont have an NRL club? What do they do?

Careful what you wish for, its been a disaster handing the game over to ARLC here in the West. Gone backwards since WARL was taken over.

The disaster was Perth going to super league then news ltd killing then off for Cronulla

rugby league was booming in Perth at the time

And the WARL got it off its knees following that and back on a really exciting course. Then the ARLC had a hostile take over and knee capped the game here for the last decade. So yeh be careful what you wish for wanting the ARLC to control everything.

So the QRL won’t fund them?

What Pathway does the side lead too?

They are pretty much paying a few old country guys to play footy.

As opposed to funding players as they move through to the NRL. Money is better spent ensuring there are referees, grounds to play on etc.

How is Toowoomba not having a team in the QCup "in the best interests of the game as a whole"?

As for the weird deflection into idpol, irrelevant.

No the QRL have said they will fund them but they are going to have pull $350k a year from other development areas to do so, or they will close down again and leave that region without a top pathway club. I guess the question is should the NRL be funding growth of the hostplus cup? Abdo clearly doesnt think so, too busy with Vegas I guess?

How are these points related to their participation in the QCup not being in the best interests of the game??

Rumoured Broncos were interested in re linking up. Didnt Webke come through there?
