Anyone googling Australian rugby is going to laugh, vomit or kill themselves.
People aren't all as dumb as you pork chops.
People aren't all as dumb as you pork chops.
The average person from outside the Eastern Seaboard of Australia, M62 corridor in England, and NZ, has no clue that there're two forms of Rugby that are two distinct sports, and no basis to be able to understand the distinction. If, for whatever reason, they take any interest in "Australian Rugby", it's more likely than not that they will be lead to believe that Rugby Australia and the Wallabies are the the be-all and end-all of rugby in Australia if they use any major search engine or social media to look into it, especially if they're a pre-existing RU fan, and that'd no benefit to the NRL or RL more generally.Anyone googling Australian rugby is going to laugh, vomit or kill themselves.

It's certainly not that straightforward though, I mean most Australians outside NSW and QLD don't know the difference.I don’t really understand the thread. Is the NRL taking the game to Las Vegas to improve their internet hits, or to improve their exposure in the US market?
Of course it would be preferable from a league perspective if when you googled Australian Rugby it popped up the NRL, but the whole point of the Vegas trip is to raise awareness. So hopefully the there are more Americans searching for info about ‘rugby’ on line; maybe a small percentage of them find the Wallabies, but if you are googling ‘vegas rugby’, or even better something about the Rabbitohs, Brisbane Broncos, Roosters or Sea Eagles they are going to get to the right place.
A simple acronymed name for the codes (like the NRL has today) will also help in the US
Seems to me a lot of people want to take league down a peg, probably due to jealousy that their code didn’t have the foresite or support to do this themselves.
Yeh people in Melbourne and Perth don’t know the difference between league and union lol.The average person from outside the Eastern Seaboard of Australia, M62 corridor in England, and NZ, has no clue that there're two forms of Rugby that are two distinct sports, and no basis to be able to understand the distinction. Getting the NRL and RL under those people's noses would be a powerful thing even if it was just in terms of exposure for the sport it's self.
I mean most Australians outside NSW and QLD don't know the difference.
But what does it matter if people don’t know the difference. I assume that in the US very few people know about league, so even if some get confused surely the many that will not will be a valuable addition to the league family. It's certainly not that straightforward though, I mean most Australians outside NSW and QLD don't know the difference.
We can't pretend that people bringing up this issue are just "trolls".
When you Google "Vegas Rugby" the top hit is about Union, and 8 of the remaining 10 are about Union.

Any excuse to deathride VegasOf course the same whingers are blowing it out of nothing.
It is being advertised as NRL in Las Vegas.
A simple google of NRL comes up with NRL
You lived in Victoria mate, you know that most Victorians refer to League as "Rugby" and don't really understand the differences between us and Union.I call bullshit on this fallacy.

for some weird reason this growth phase the nrl is in seems to trigger the same people
Doesn’t it matter if they confuse our code with Union? But what does it matter if people don’t know the difference. I assume that in the US very few people know about league, so even if some get confused surely the many that will not will be a valuable addition to the league family.
Doesn’t it matter if they confuse our code with Union?
Storm in a teacupIt isn't ideal but that is what you get going to new areas,
The local clubs are involved in the 9's let them explain the differences to potential new players/sponsors.
Opening the game up to those people is the aim of Vegas
maybe fumble fans are smarter than most Aussie league fans by referring to the nrl correctly as rugbyDoes it matter in Melbourne?
I am sure all their members know the difference
Doesn’t it matter if they confuse our code with Union?
Not at this stage in our journey, no.Doesn’t it matter if they confuse our code with Union?
