The average person from outside the Eastern Seaboard of Australia, M62 corridor in England, and NZ, has no clue that there're two forms of Rugby that are two distinct sports, and no basis to be able to understand the distinction. If, for whatever reason, they take any interest in "Australian Rugby", it's more likely than not that they will be lead to believe that Rugby Australia and the Wallabies are the the be-all and end-all of rugby in Australia if they use any major search engine or social media to look into it, especially if they're a pre-existing RU fan, and that'd no benefit to the NRL or RL more generally.

Getting the NRL and RL under those people's noses would be a powerful thing even if it was just in terms of exposure for the sport it's self.

I don’t really understand the thread. Is the NRL taking the game to Las Vegas to improve their internet hits, or to improve their exposure in the US market?

Of course it would be preferable from a league perspective if when you googled Australian Rugby it popped up the NRL, but the whole point of the Vegas trip is to raise awareness. So hopefully the there are more Americans searching for info about ‘rugby’ on line; maybe a small percentage of them find the Wallabies, but if you are googling ‘vegas rugby’, or even better something about the Rabbitohs, Brisbane Broncos, Roosters or Sea Eagles they are going to get to the right place.

A simple acronymed name for the codes (like the NRL has today) will also help in the US

Seems to me a lot of people want to take league down a peg, probably due to jealousy that their code didn’t have the foresite or support to do this themselves.

Considering they have a decent rugby union comp over there f**ken named MAJOR LEAGUE RUGBY I'm pretty sure this experiment will eiher ad to more confusion, OR as we've seen already in press conferences and sidline interviews, they are just going think it's rugby, they will google rugby, and think we took rugby (union) there...
