this is really getting beyond the joke.

The sun herald now claim that the Warriors management have not given Parra permission to negotiate with TL and would still prefer him to play in England.

Parra GM Greg Mitchell claims they did receive permission to negotiate with him by Spiro Tsiros [NZ GM] over the phone and by e-mail and said if they came to a deal with TL they would then have to negoiate a release fee.

Mitchell said, we've taken steps to resolve the situation. I've written to the Warriors and I'm told the management of the club will speak to us during the week, we look forward to that.

IMO!! enough is enough, it really doesn't matter to the eels and nor do I care whether he signs or not but the kid obviously wants to play for us and Parra wouldn't of persued it unless the kid never showed any desire to play for us. He wants to play for us!!! there is apparent proof that they were allowed to negotiate why don't the Warriors do the right thing??? and I'd be feeling the same if he wanted to play with any other club in the world.

PS: this is a completely different situation to Lyon as we never gave him permission to negotiate with any sydney based club, except Penrith and the Tigers.

WTF are the Warriors up to??? First they let him tour our facilities and what have you, then they tell the kid he can only get a release to england. Then they relent and let him talk to parra, where he really seems to want to play. It gets to the point of negotiating release fees, and what do they do? "Oh, no, sorry, we changed our mind, if you want a release you have to go to England!!" They don't want the kid, he wants to play for Parra....if they had any respect for him at all they'd let him come here.

Maybe Warriors were setting him free to look around the NRL in the hope of him realising he should stay in NZ for whatever money he was on and put up with being their 3rd string half? And they thought Parra would be safe as we'd already signed PJ as a half from them, and looked (from the outside) like we'd spent our cap?

Trouble is, we've called the bluff and have both the desire and enough $$ (thankyou Dykes) to sign Leuluai. And Leuluai is now their country's top half, and they are scared he'll show them up if he goes to anyone else in the NRL. Now the Warriors seem to have gone "Oh, didn't you see our fingers crossed behind our backs when we said we'd release you to Parra?"

It's a pretty ridiculous situation, and doesn't do much but frustrate Parramatta, disillusion the young kid and make the Warriors look bad. The thing I don't understand is, if the Eels have prior permission to talk to him, and want him that badly, why not talk anyway and take it to the NRL if they reach an agreement with Thomas? Surely the Warriors would come off second best due to the fact that they have given us permission to negotiate and then revoked it inexplicably?

I think because he's still under contract to Warriors, they can change their mind however they want and it's not an NRL issue (like Manly with Lyon - nothing they or NRL could do about Parra offering Jamie only to Wests and ?)

But once the Eels have permission to negotiate surely that's that and all the Warriors can do is go "Damn" if they change their mind? And we refused Manly permission to negotiate with Lyon staight off, none of this screwing around.

Well not really, as long as he is under contract the Warriors have pretty much free reign on what they can do, depending on excatly how Leuluai's contract is written what (if any) clauses he has etc.

It is different to the Lyon case but there is 1 major similarity just as Parra could tell Lyon who he can and cannot talk to the Warriors can do the same.

Fair enough. I guess I was just under the impression that once we'd been given permission to negotiate we may have had a case for telling the Warriors to get stuffed. You've gotta feel for Leuluai though, he's trying to play a Test series and all this crap is going on.

its not worth the hassle in getting Leuluai..maybe if it was Hohaia or Ropati BUT its not :x

there are better players still on the market that we should be looking at even over in the ESL

What happened last time we did that Phillips??? Thorman  .

Enoughs enough the club needs to make their mind up because if he is expected to be signed Iam waiting for it now. NZ are gone and after their final match it will be announced if ever.

Thorman is a good player, just that Smith didn't use him properly

I'd try and lure Ben Jeffries back to Aussie, ive been a fan since he was at the Tigers

if Leuluai does sign, i would have him on the bench..he is not a #7 that will win us games, not yey anyway...

I would only want Leuluai as I dont think Marsh would be as effective as a starting player and Smith hasnt been tried and tested. Iam just thinking that if SMith gets a shot and cant live up to expectations he would then have to stay there if there were no replacement. This is why havinf Leuleui wouldnt be that bad. But I wont be heartbroken if we dnt get him. I just want to know an announcement

as I've said before I'm not entirely convinced that we need him at the very least he will put preasure on the 4 blokes vying for the positions and him coming in the equation may give us an extra choice.

NZ are very much entitled to the shots but their really giving this kid a hard time!! or are the Warrors calling bluff for a higher transfer fee????..remains to be seen.

hey Philips: what about Wes Pattern?? Trever schodel?? Craig Field?? Ben Kusto?? Don Tweedle?? shaun Wessell?....get the picture?? ;-)

Eelavation: is Benny Kusto coming home????? ;-)

who knows?? "flatch" who knows??

God no!! Wouldn't surprise me though, we did just get rid of dykes, and so Smith is lacking a sub-standard half to play over talented ones.
