A man is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after being shot in Sydney's inner west last night.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics found the 26-year-old man bleeding heavily after they were called to a unit on Walker Street at Redfern, just after midnight.
He had been shot in the face and arm, the spokesman said.
ABC Radio reported the weapon was an air rifle, but Redfern police would not confirm this when contacted by smh.com.au.
It was also reported the was walking in the area when he was hit and that he went to a friend's house to call for an ambulance.
Paramedics took the man to St Vincent's Hospital, where police said he was treated for injuries including a graze to his left cheek and a wound to his right elbow.
Redfern detectives are at the hospital hoping to speak to the man today.
Anyone with information should phone Redfern police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
