And here lies the problem, Tonights second binning. Clearly the defender isnt aiming high, his arm is out below his own shoulder height but the height of the attacker stepping inside means it hits him high. And the game is compromised yet again by a player being off for 10mins

F1s rating have also crashed like 20% over the last decade as they keep making changes to make the cars safer and more ecologically friendly. no one wants to watch a bunch of hairdryers going around a track. professional sports are karening themselves out of existence the world over (check out the free fall in NBA revenue and ratings as a top example).

why the NRL is obsessed with what mythical mothers think is beyond me. Mums love letting their kids play soccer in Oz. How’s the A league doing?

Agree with all that but it’s also no longer on FTA. So they’re now basically asking merkins to pay for a shittier product. Not good business, you’d think.

I like Tarmololo but that was pretty bad. Frizell’s nose was splattered everywhere.
The other cows player was hard done by. Ball runner ducked into the tackle.

Should have let him stroll through for a line break.

If everyone isn't following tedesco and ducking into tackles by now then you've missed a trick.

Or with F1 it might be that Mercedes have been so dominant for so long and no one else has been within a competitive coo-ee of them.

they keep changing the rules to make it less and less competitive also.

The cars sound like utter trash now too. Every new engine gets progressively worse. No wonder they host half their races in empty racetracks in the middle east

That tackle would decapitate 97% of adult humans on earth.
And would hit the neck of many NRL players.
Next time he might try at ball level (either the one he is holding, or the other two).

The sport was very popular through Ferrari/Schumakers reign. Though I dont have TV stats to see if there was a decline.
It isnt just the safety, the cars don't even seem to break down like they use to which made it interesting.

F1s ratings have been the result of them selling the rights to pay TV everywhere. In 2020 they were averaging about 87m people per race which is an improvement over a lot of the last decade. They are seeing growth in a ton of markets like Netherlands because of Verstappen. I think putting f1 behind paywalls has played a bigger role than nefarious concepts like safety. They have seen some good signs this year with ratings too but it will never be that peak insane audience they used to get because again its paywalled.

The reality is that f1 is expensive and they need to attract engine manufacturers. While the fans want V10s because they sound better its got to be attractive enough for engine manufacturers to want to participate. Mercedes has done extremely well out of F1 with the value of its brand but they aren't going to stick around and develop an engine they dont see any long term point in building. They currently supply engines to like half the grid

The reliability I do agree with. Hamilton didn't have a single retirement in 2020. In fact his last retirement was Austria 2018 which says to me that the manufacturers have essentially mastered the cars. Luckily there is a major regulation change coming for 2022 that hopefully will throw a few curve balls at the teams

Now someone has mentioned F1..

Every race you know Hamilton is going to win. People watch atleast in NRL there are 5 teams capable of winning the comp.

Though brings up a good point. Modify junior rules and leave NRL alone

They were both direct whacks to the head, and deserved 10 minutes and the week off they are both getting. The end.

F1 is bringing in a spend cap so teams like Mercedes can't just spend half a billion dollars a year to stay in front. Hopefully that brings the pack a little closer together.

My personal opinion would be Yes. The brain isn’t selective about the cause, just the fact that there IS. And if the experiment was with strangers, wouldn’t it stand to reason to be even MORE damaging with people you know and who may have accepted you previously. This is certainly a form of child abuse I would conclude. This is also why prisons are effectively inhumane. Isolation from human interaction. Not that I am advocating no prisons. Just the consequences on the human psyche.

it sucks when it happens to your team, and some of them feel unavoidable, but I guess its here to stay

players need to aim lower when they tackle

Again I disagree, JT yep totally warranted, Burr nope attacker contributed and was pure accident with no real negligence by the defender. Its ridiculous to be compromising games due to unavoidable accidents. Its why we dont sinbin or penalise head clashes. Accidents happen in a high contact fast sport like RL.
