Was Sir Alex dropping hints about some significant January transfers when he talked about us being a good shot if we could be within a point or two of Chelsea come the new year?

he always likes them to be within reach at the turn of the year. he seems to really prime the team for that busy period of late Decemeber/early January. i wouldn't be surprised to see him dip in the market at January though after the off season prices were so inflated by Real.

Ryan Giggs finally got his 100th career goal from a beauty of a free kick, nice birthday present

still confussed over how they [being touchy on otherside of the field] came to give pompey a penalty considering the shirt pulling [which did not have any affect] happens every time

scholes was lucky not to get at least one goal, he was striking them sweetly

Valencia, that was his best game so far absolutely brilliant..he has speed to burn

a Rooney hattrick to cap off the game

how so?

the one against rooney, brown stepped on his foot and the one against giggs, the pompey player tackled him..

sir alex could have easily extended his touchline ban, ridiculous

lol avram grant

last game as coach, against united and suffers a loss, with penalties a major factor...his latest game, against united, suffers a loss, with penalties a major factor

26 years !! Thats a hell of a long time. Thank god the monkey is gone :)

How unlucky was Rooney ? But we've had sh*t luck like that all year too. O well, we'll take it and bad luck fellas. Was a great defenders game tho, i like those sort of tussles.

credit to Aston Villa, they came to play which doesnt always happen, they are a good team, who could have finished top 4 last season but depth hurt them

the ball just wouldnt go in the net for us, with rooney hitting the cross bar, berbatov having an airswing at an open goal and various other shots blocked

The one telling thing about United this season is they seem extremely vulnerable at Vermin Towers... I haven't seen them play so consistently bad at home.

If I were you, I'd be more worried about 2 zillion pounds worth of imported talent with only one loss for the season but still sitting 6th. Call us back when Citeh win so much as a chook raffle.

Yeah cool, I knew someone would bite, but I was simply making a (correct) observation.
Carry on.

I wouldn't call our home form bad. We've lost 2 games at home, one a Champions League tie after we'd already clinched a knockout round spot, and the other the Villa game. True, our away form has by and large been better than our home form, but I wouldn't call our form bad. Inconsistent is the better word. We haven't yet been able to string together a large number of games which is always vital for a team that wants to win trophies.

Congratulations to Chelsea, champions 2009/10. Yes, we've been killed by injuries recently, but our form wasn't up to scratch prior to the poor injury run anyway. Too many disappointing performances thus far to give me any confidence we can seriosuly challenge Chelsea this season.

Oh well, at least we're not as sh*t as Liverpool. And Mr Shines, I slept like a baby through the second half, thank f**k.
