But are Man United really in trouble (with debt)? I know they've got that massive debt, but surely they're not going broke or anything? I really have no idea with this.
Glazer bought the club using a massive loan which he used the club as security. Now he has to take most of our profits to pay for the loan so essentially the fans are buying the club for Glazer.
This would not be so bad if the prices were kept the same, but the prices have gone up. They would of gone up again except for the green and gold campaign. Add to that the Automatic Cup scheme (Where you have to buy a ticket for every home cup game at full price (Even the league cup)), rumours of selling the training ground and basically evertything that has been built up for the last 100 years just so these guys can make money then run.
We are not going broke, we are the most profitable club in the world. Thats the point, we make loads of money, then watch it all go down the plug hole to pay loan interest. A recent bond issue means we are not paying as much on the original loans so the chance of the banks taking over has been reduced. However should they be unable to pay back the bonds they may need to sell assets (Players or buildings) to pay for them.
Hopefully they will just leave, as quick as possible.
The fact we win stuff makes this protest so different from all others. We are not protesting about poor owners holding us back. We are protesting over the principle of football not being a cash cow for people who wouldn't know Old Trafford from there a*se hole.
Liverpool are in a lot more trouble than us. They need a buyer quick cause there loans mature in July.
There is a fit and proper test for owners in the UK. Whoever is in charge of that needs showing the door. The two biggest clubs potentially on there knees, Portsmouth gone bust, a few others getting close. Someone has a lot to answer for.
