After last week, I'll take a scrappy 1-0 win. First half hour we bossed the game, but after that we seemed content to sit back and let them run at us. Amazing the difference Cleverley made to our attack, and more importantly Vidic made to our defence. I wonder will we continue with Rooney in an attacking midfield role in order to accomodate 3 strikers in the team?

It was a much needed win. Especially as we have not won there for 4 years.

Well taken goal, the plastic scousers huffed and puffed, thats what you expect them to do on there patch. Now onto Europe.

Another scrappy 1-0. Definitely preferable to drawing 0-0 at home against Swansea. :p Rooney our best yet again, playing out of position yet again. Personally, I'd like to see Rooney and Hernandez paired up front again. As much as I like Wellbeck, I don't like Rooney playing out of position to accomodate him. And Rooney and Hernandez work so well together.

Another Scrappy win, but its what we need at the mo. We need to get Rooney back up upfront.

Always going to be hard with all the Sir Alex 25 years stuff.

The North Stand has been renamed in his honour.

Wasn't our day, and probably won't be our year (although I'm wary after writing us off in similar circumstances 12 months ago). Shithouse call, but we created enough chances to win 10 games. Credit to Krul, he had an amazing game in goal. Newcastle had more than their fair share of arsey last ditch clearances, but the chances we simply butchered were still more than enough. And our own goal was 110% pure arse.

If Jonny Evans is your captain...maybe your depth isn't as great as you'd think.

Evans, the Squillaci of United.

Why? What did he do wrong? He didn't stop a 40 yard shot from a midfielder or you talking about the goal the offside guy scored? Other than that? Uniteds problems on the night were not in the middle of the defence.

Good to see Morrison get a run out, he needs to go into the first team now as he is that good. I'd love to see what he can do surrounded by Rooney, Nani, Young etc. and not...

... Maceda and Diouf. Neither will make it at OT. Diouf should go to Germany, Maceda back to Italy and have good careers there. The Brazilian twins should follow. Playing them is a waste of two substitutions.

Gibson did alright, but not great and should think about moving on as he will be behind Pogba and Morrison soon. Park had a stinker but we played him in 18 million different positions it seemed so i'll give him the benefit.

Other than that, meh. One less Wembley trip i have to pay for. Which is nice.

Chin up guys No shame in finishing third behind FC Basel

At least now City have the chance to destroy you in the EL and the FA Cup to go with their league thrashing
