Worse than being forced to play Europa games is Vidic. If twitter is to be believed, he's torn ligaments, 4 months out. If that's true, I don't think you guys have a lock on 2nd anymore.

Disgraceful. Absolutely f**king disgraceful. The only saving graces are that City also f**ked up and Liverpool aren't even in Europe.

And is it too much to ask for us to be able to go a game without another f**king injury?

Well that was gash.

Hopefully we can use this result so we stop taking the group stages for granted, get rid of some of the dead wood and buy a sodding midfielder.

Still, we get to actually play different teams for once. Plus its one trophy Sir Alex has never won, and a competition (including the old UEFA cup) that United have never won. If we win it, we become only the 5th team in history to win all the Euro comps.

Last team we didn't go through was 6 seasons ago. The record since then wasn't to bad.

6-8 weeks is apparently the "best case scenario". Could be 4 months. IMO Tottenham and Arsenal's chances of finishing second has improved significantly.

Whats all this talk about United losing second?

We are still trying to win the league. Battling for second in December is loser talk.

IMO I can't see City giving up 1st unless they have a self destruction of royal proportions. Until recently I thought United had as much of a lock on 2nd as City had on 1st.

But in the last few weeks you guys haven't shown much creativity and have gotten 3 pointers on the back of tough gritty and effective defense. Well if the rock of your back 4 really is out for the best part of the rest of the season, I think you guys are in trouble.

Assuming City doesn't f**k up and give up 1st and assuming Newcastle and Liverpool won't do better or worse than 6th and 7th, I think you'll find the rest of the season as a fight between United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea for 2nd-5th.

With Vidic out and without improving your midfield in January, I don't think you're a great deal better than the Spurs or Gunners.

Our defence is the second best in the league, we have had a load of injuries this year to our defence and midfield. We are much better than Spurs or Arsenal in defence.

Yes we have been playing poor recently, but when we lost to City we went 5 points behind them.
Now all of a sudden, despite playing badly (does not help when we have to play our best attacker in midfield due to a lack of players, you try putting RvP in the mid and see how you do) we are now only 2 behind City. Even before last nigh, we were still the same 5 points behind.

We have quietly recovered from the City game, no one got past us, we have players coming back into form, we are winning away from home, still have not played the worse teams in the league and have played all the top teams.

You can fight for fourth, and if RvP gets injured, its a fight you will lose. If he doesn't, it will be Spurs who pull the usual bottle job.
We are fighting with City for the top spot.

"He will be a loss" - slight understatement. We now get to enjoy a lot more of Jonny f**king Evans.

This unfortunately ](*,)

Seriously, you guys sound like scousers. Stop with the self pity.

Evans is a great player, ask Gibson what happens to young players who Fergie decides are not good enough. He is the best passer in our defence, plenty strong enough and can read the game much better than Smalling and Jones. He just needs to stay on it for 90 mins. Something Rio had to learn how to do. Once he does that, no problems.
