No player is irreplacable.

What I am saying is, if he wants to go, sell him, use that money to buy two or three high quality players, who, as individuals might not be as good as Ronaldo, but as a collective give you a deeper squad.

I think talk of sitting the guy in the stands rather than sell is cutting your nose of despite your face, Ferguson has made comments along those lines I believe.

The other thing, whenever someone looked like becoming an unsettling influence, or getting a bit big for their boots, Fergie sold them. seems to me those rules now seem to be different for Ronalda
because ronaldo was alot better than Ruud or Beckham or Staam or whoever else SAF sold off.

i wouldnt mind Ronaldo sitting in the stands for 4 years... it sends a very powerfull message to the footballing world that utd dont sell unless they want to....

What 2 - 3 players could replace him? Ronaldinho? Past it, ridiculous wages. Kaka? Happy in Milan. Villa? Prefers to stay in Spain. Benzema? Prefers Spain, wants to stay in Lyon for another season. Eto'o? Lots of baggage (and injuries). Anybody else and you're looking at scraps not fit to lace Ronaldo's boots (Bentley, Santa Cruz etc.). Even if we did get one of those top class players, you're still taking the risk of them not handling English football, or not enjoying English life.
If Ronaldo was to want out and go to Madrid, then, if thinking rationally, United could do alot worse than getting a combination of Sneijder/Robben, Robinho and Ramos in return.

Sneijder is an awesome player. As is Robben when fit. Both would be like for like replacements. And one of them with Robinho could certainly do a good job of filling the void left by Ronaldo's exit. And Ramos is the quality right back they need to replace Neville.

Losing Ronnie would be a huge blow, but if they received Sneijder/Robinho/Ramos in return then they could quite easily become a better team in the long run.

Ramos wants to make the move too....
Well there you go.

United could really hold Madrid to ransom. They want him that badly; so they can use that to their advantage.

ManU can make the demands. Sneijder/Robinho/Ramos for Ronaldo. Or no deal.

Would make me happy as a United fan. Better than having a whinging sook on the bench and no-one to replace him.

I would rather Ronaldo sit in the stands than go to Madrid, didn't he sign a new contract not too long ago and now he wants to bolt to Madrid? Why did he sign the contract?

If this Real move was in the back of his head when he signed the new contract, I beleive the basis would be too substantially lift his wages in this contract, and from there he knew Real would have to up that contract which was already of a higher value so he could earn more.

well, you know contracts means nothing. As dragooner said, he signs a contract to lift wages, man u sign him up to secure him and enable them to hold other clubs to ransom if they want him.

I dont think he will see out his contract, and the longer he stays at Man U, the less he has to run on that contract and the lower each year his value becomes IMO. He is probably at peak value now.

Realistically we'll make more money by keeping him than we will by selling him, so he's more value at the club than being sold to Madrid.

Bloody hell, champions of Europe, 80 million pounds to throw...think about who you could sign?

Berbs, Moutinho, Veloso, Ramos, Robinho, Ibrahimovic, Aguero, Richards, Silva, Quaresma

The possiblities are endless with that kinda cash. Swap Ronaldo with either Moutinho, Quaresma or Silva, and could still sign two more players...

I heard Ronaldo is going to have a meeting with Man U management.

I think he'll walk is and say he wants to leave, Man U will say stiff sh*t we're not selling, and Ronaldo will walk out and say he never wanted leave, he loves man united and the fans.

youd probably be right... but id hate to get on the bad side of SAF....

and to be fair... Ronaldo owes SAF & Man Utd abit... he brought him over from sporting and pretty much developed him into what he is today... not to mention the club and the fans got right behind him after WC06 when everyone in england hated his guts... i hope he remembers that before he bags the club off in public...

The British tabloids are mentioning him going on 'strike' or him playing worse to lower his price tag, but I don't think he'll do it.

However Man U and Alex must realise that how good is he really going to play if he doesnt want to be there?

Name those that were the calibre of Ronaldo. I'd rather he rot in the stands for the remainder of his contract than see the club let him stroll out the front door.

Good luck to him if he wants to do that. We'll see how long he enjoys sitting in the stands watching his career going nowhere as his team mates are lifting trophies.

it would be a massive waste to see him sit in the stands for 4 years... which will be his prime...

Which is why he won't do it. The club just needs to hold firm and be quite clear that he's staying whether he likes it or not. Give him a choice of accepting it and getting on with it or sitting in the stands and it won't be a hard choice for him to make.
