The Marshall delemma

About time someone stood up and said it - Benji is no longer one of the premier players in the game and hasn't developed anywhere near what is expected by his age and experience and has got his finger in too many pieces of the pie at the Tigers. 200+ games. He should be compared to Fittler, Daley, Kenny, Lewis, Thurston by now....

I wouldn't complain if the Tigers moved in a new direction.
We will get better value for money elsewhere.

7. Thurston
6. Sironen

Townsend would be a better long term option. He is NRL ready and controls a game well.

He'll take any offer to play NRL fulltime, could pick him up on the cheap.

We need a very structured coach to take the reins though to make it work.

Force Benji to play entirely as a 6.

You don't develop when there are zero consequences for failures, non efforts and pointless f**king around in your career.

reality is the kid doesn't care about his place in the games history, as long as he keeps cashing the big cheques he couldn't give a shit. That much has become clear over the years

The club has over the past 2-3 years stopped looking at long term options and looked at what will next year.

This shit has to end, it kills clubs quick, because the roster turnover is frequent and consistent.

Townsend next to Sironen in the future would be f**king awesome.

He'd be cheap now too and would. He'd get quality ball to the centres as well, who this year were starved due to shit service from the halves.

You could have Meninga and Steve Rogers in our side this year, would have made f**k all difference.

So many of our recruitment and retention decisions of the last few years have seemed to centre around keeping Benjis mates in a job. Hopefully the clean out and a new coch will put an end to that.

Either we throw Miller in or give Miller and Townsend a year in NSW Cup to build combination and use Anasta in the halvesfor 2013

I think last year Benji to me looked like a killer out there. This year I think he has been terribly poor.

I don't blame Sheens I blame Benji. He needs to turn it around but he needs to do it for himself.

Gee, I have to say part of me is tempted to move Marshall on. I know he can be a great player on his day, but those days a few and far between these days. WT will need more than anything over the next few years, a player that can play structured football and keep brain snaps to a minimum. Not sure Benji is that player for us, I'd say Anasta could be.

You still have Miller?

Give him a f**king half back, a fullback would help.

Siro is the question. Big enough for 13, not quick enough for fullback or three-quarter.

Benji needs to be left to attack, let Farah and Miller tell people where to be, Benji play what you see, and use your experience to keep in mind the score and minutes left, go hard at the right time.

Worried about Siro but.

I wonder if Benji spoke from the heart at half time telling the Kiwi's it isn't about winning or losing it's about playing and having fun with your best mates. Maybe he could have round it off be telling them not to worry about their form because with him in charge it will be the same team for the next ten years or more and if the coach doesn't like that idea they can get rid of him.

This. Benji is a guy who you give the ball to and tell him to create something. You don't want him organising the attack or handling the bulk of the kicking, it doesn't suit his game. Get a proper halfback (not Marshall, Farah or Anasta) and let them do all that stuff. All this talk about moving him on is an over reaction to a poor season, if we play him in the role he is comfortable playing, he will win games for us.

As for Sirro, he still has age on his side. Surely a year in lower grades with a few first grade appearances here and there can't hurt him, especially coming back from injury. When Braith leaves the club in a few years, Sirro will be ready to take a full time position at lock.

Benji made the most impact when the team actually had a descent spine ( 1,6,7,9 ) Brett Hodgson at fullback Robbie Farah at Hooker and most importantly Scott Prince at Half . Benji is an off cuff Five eight nothing else . When Prince was organizing and Hodgson supporting they could do almost anything . It won them a premiership . We haven't had that for a long time . I Don't see how you can narrow it down to player being their demise . Put him at 6 get a good Fullback and a 7 that can organize and I think he'll be back better than ever . ( it would also allow Robbie Farrah to do his thing with less pressure . )

You are all a bunch of spineless craven with no sense of loyalty. Benji has been one of our best players for a long time...he has one shit year and you all want to throw him to the dogs. Last year leading up to finals Marshall was ripping it harder than a virgin on her wedding night. The year before that he almost took us to the grand final. Has anyone considered the fact that he may have had no choice where he was played and how he played? Your all going on about how cool Thurston would be but he would probably also be a disappointment in his first year and then all you pussys would whinge about how he is a wast of money. Wait untill we get a new coach and you are all going to have to eat your own words

It all comes back to our Halfback/Fullback situation. Get that shit in cement then we will be the premiere side we should be

All this talk of letting Marshall go is sheer lunacy.....we may as well sign Alan Jones as coach again....

Think about this.......in 20 minutes.......Tedesco showed more promise than any fullback for the Wests Tigers since Hodgson's departure.......imagine if he was there the whole season.....I think you would have a different opinion of Marshall....
