The Mighty bands that have fallen....but just wont let go!

Somethings in another thread got me thinking about great bands that have fallen but just keep hanging on and dragging the great names and memories down.

What great bands have fallen that you can think of (or even popular if you didnt think they were great).

1 - Metallica - They are still going with a couple of original members but the once masters of long kick ass metal have turned into the biggest bunch of faggs in the world....Cliff Burton would be rolling in his grave. Just watch the DVD some kind of monster to see what I mean (great dvd btw). I would never have released that if I were them and trying to get some cred back.

James the fairy 'I can only work for 4 hours because im a wanker'

2 - Guns N Roses - Back when Bandanners around the head was cool, along with very very short bike pants with pee dribble marks (I used to have a few pictures of Axl on my wall!) and lead guitarists with a monster fuzzball were screaming solos in each song Guns N Roses were at the top.

But the Egos of Slash and Axl got to much and one by one the band disintegrated. Steve Adler booted in the making of UYI (to much Mr Browntstone), Some wanker named Dizzy Reed brought in to add way to much keyboards to a rock band, Izzy Stradlin the chief song writer on many many many songs (one of the most underated parts of the Gunners mighty success imo) had enough of Axls control freak ways and departs amidst the bands biggest world wide tour to be replaced by Gilby Clarke who then leaves a few years later, tries to release a solo album with the MASSIVE heading FORMER GUITARIST FROM GUNS N ROSES to cash in on people assuming it was Slash, then tries to sue the band only to end up on Rock Star Supernova, Slash whom has an ego of his own finally has enough of Axls control freak ways, and then finally Matt Sorum and Duff cant handle Axl anymore.

Then axl assembles totally new people, still uses the name Guns N Roses because he bought it (scared to release under a new name as it wouldnt have to massive selling power of Guns N Roses) doesnt release the album for 10 years, makes a tour comeback looking stupid with his facial surgery and still trying to wear the same gettup of the 80's/90's

Axl my friend.....Guns N Roses as we knew it is gone, let it go!

3 - Queen - I have nothing but respect for the members of Queen but without Freddy Mercury it will NEVER be queen. Play benefit concerts or Queen featuring someone concerts but please dont do the romoured Rockstar Queen and try to bring some Australian Idol type in to fill Freddy's shoes and release an album under the name Queen. (different to the others I know but Queen were such a great band)

4 - Pearl Jam - Well as far as I know they are the same band but Gee whizz what crap they have produced the last 5 or so years. Give up, I really think you flucked the first couple of albums or had a writer, but a band that once came to Aus as a headling band filling the Entertainment center now flys in barely noticed to play a mid week show without anybody knowing they were here (comaritively speaking).

Name some more

Possibly even worse than old rockers maturing and changing their style is old rockers clinging to the stuff of their youth, pretending that they're still 20 year olds.

The Rolling Stones are a bit past it by now surely!.....whilst they may not have fallen they are getting a bit hard to take seriously??? My opinion only of course....

Ill give Metallica the benefit of the doubt until I hear the new album. They still know how to carve on stage, the tour in 04 was an awesome live gig and if you were at BDO and heard everyone else, you would realise there was daylight between metallica and the rest. Still one of the best live bands I have ever seen.

A fourth album of sh*t wont help their cause though, which I'll then agree with you simo, if thats the case.

Huey lewis and the news still tour once a year in the us .
They do about a 4 month tour and have the rest of the year off.
they sell out to mums and dads right across the country.

Sounds good to me.

Define "mighty bands"...

Because, for argument's sake...Both Korn and Limp Bizkit were once tremendously popular...But have been absolute garbage for ages now...

Thats why I put this clause in the opening post:

'What great bands have fallen that you can think of (or even popular if you didnt think they were great)'
