The myth of all myths: Tim Sheens

I know he has had a good run in the game but surely its time they started asking questions.
He has a decent roster; A world class five-eight, a game-breaking centre and winger, and a couple top line forwards (Ellis, Heighnington) and a world class hooker.
Theyre underperforming and it has to come down to the coach as much as I hate to say it.

Sheens is a good coach but has a very limited shelve life at each club he goes to. Their is one way to do things and never a option b and its the same year after year. Unlike Bennett who keeps reinventing himself and changes things around like support staff and ideas. He is a ideal bloke to send in and fix up a broken club, but long term every one gets very tired of his methods.

As posted before he is a protected species by the media. He has praise heaped upon him after a win and is never questioned after a loss even after some shocking selection.

As super coach says-a successful one trick coach-and its up to WT management to realise this [and at least Sheens gets results - GF wins, as opposed to 2nds like his coaching doppelganger Brian Smith].

It's not the 90's any more dude.

That line of thinking is why he still has a job at the Tigers.

5 Grand Finals, 4 Premierships... yep, an absolute nuffy.

The man has you fooled, along with all the other geniuss in the media who line up to suck his c**k. Three of those premierships were won with a team full of superstars.

The fourth one was an odd year out surrounded by nothing but mediocrity. 12 out of the last 13 seasons a Sheens coached side has not made the finals. That's a f**king nuffy in my books.

The great man even outdid himself again today. We had:

- A hooker playing halfback
- A second rower playing hooker
- A halfback playing hooker in the last 20

We also played with 15 players for 60+ minutes in souring heat, and ended up only using 16 players, with the great idea of a winger on the bench not even getting a run.

f**king pathetic.

As for all the users arguing with the point of this thread. How else are Tigers fans supposed to express our dismay and as a result put pressure on his job?

We were 4 and 1... now we are 4 and 4 and I put the blame on his team selections, nobody has looked comfortable where they're playing in the past three matches, he probably even ruined Blake Lazarus's career opportunities by naming him at halfback and playing him at wing and fullback. There is a prolific pointscoring young superstar in our twenties side, the NSW cup player of the year at BRET and a horde of other good reserves that could be in the side instead of 1 minute Brown and Daniel Fitzhenry. Hell I blame him for our other loss too, playing Moltzen at fullback.

I'm surprised that he actually picked Andrew Fifita this season.

I'm not a Tigers supporter but I do enjoy watching them play. They can be brilliant but too often they are very disappointing especially considering the roster they have. I mean, it is very, very good. They also have three blokes on the coaching staff with qualifications and achievements coming out their ying yangs. What the f**k is going on??????

They play low percentage football, week after week. Of course it is brilliant to watch when it comes off, but as has been demonstrated every year since 2005 it does not win you half the games you play, which is all that is required to make the play offs in this system.

Thats the very definition of mediocrity.

Our club accepts mediocrity and Sheens is not accountable for his performances.

He racked up his 600th game in style this week: we had a hooker playing half, a second rower playing hooker, and then at the end of a game a lower grade halfback playing hooker.

We also used 15 players for 60+ minutes in 30 degree heat where everyone was dying, and his masterstroke of playing a winger on the bench was such a fantastic tactic that Mitch Brown didn't even get onto the field. So we played with only 16 in that stinking heat.

Couldn't make that sh*t up.

I admire the fact you love your club so much mate.
I agree with you too, Sheens performance in all but one year since about the mid 90's have been f**king sh*thouse.
However, you'll need to move heaven and earth to get your club, who is not that financially well off, to send him packing before his time.
Even then, who would you like to replace him?
Be careful what you wish for dude.

The Tigers looked so disorganised today. They didn't seem to have a clue and we gave them countless opportunities in the first half and granted out defence was good but imo it should have been alot more than 8-0 at the half.
I feel sorry for Tigers fans having a coach that seems to be able the board and keep his job and get rid of his opponent at the club (Their CEO last season).
If Sheens had same results at the Roosters he would never have last as long as he has at the Tigers.

Oh f**k yeah, I agree with that one.
The Roosters don't f**k around in that regard.
Exemplifying that is the Stuart dismissal, the fact he brought them their first title in 27 years was noted, but the need to keep the sucess coming was considered paramount.
Then again, if Ricky had jagged 3 titles in 3 GF appearances, you can bet yours and my balls he'd still be at the place.
Ditto Brownie at Saints, if he could have taken something out of 2005 / 2006, he'd still be there. (Which may not have been a good thing)
