The myth of all myths: Tim Sheens

I admire the fact you love your club so much mate.
I agree with you too, Sheens performance in all but one year since about the mid 90's have been f**king sh*thouse.
However, you'll need to move heaven and earth to get your club, who is not that financially well off, to send him packing before his time.
Even then, who would you like to replace him?
Be careful what you wish for dude.

Mate, we just re-signed him AGAIN for another year only a few weeks ago. So instead of being able to show him the door at the end of this year, we are now stuck with this myth for yet another year.

What the f**k has he done to deserve YET ANOTHER extension? Re-sign and play Daniel Fitzhenry every week? Play players out of position? Constantly say he doesn't look for excuses but rolls out five or six in the post match press conference every time we lose?

Who would I like to replace him - just about ANYONE. Someone who will play players in their correct positions, not weaken one position to strengthen another, not play with 16 players, not name wingers on the bench. Is that really that much to ask?

No other club in the NRL would put up with this mediocritry for so long.

Look at the Roosters with Stuart. The Bullldogs with Folkes. The Cowboys with Murray. Souffs with Taylor. All it takes is one or two lean years and these coaches are gone. We've had four years (now five) of the same pure and utter sh*t over and over and over again and yet we just keep extending his contract. WHY!? No other club would tolerate it.

I love this club to death, but enough is enough. I regret renewing my season ticket (I refused to get one last year, but changed my mind this year when we signed Lote, and Sheens' promise of "no excuses"). What a f**king load of sh*t those words turned out to be.

I understand your frustration & can see everything you are outlining as plain as day. At Saints, they would have been calling for his head the last three years & demanding the CEO be sacked (we love that sh*t down Kogarah way) as was the case with Browny.

But, it is only Round 8 mate. You won't be too affecyed by Orgin period and if your draw is a bit soft you can pick up some points there. Saints did so two years ago. Went from 14th to 5th on the back of 7 wins in a row in that period, three of which were against depleted opposition. It was a golden run and othere fans were, quite understandably, up in arms about it . I was happy to take it though.

Anyway, back to topic. Try not to let it fluster you. Football teams are not worth stressing over mate. You can't control anything & knowing that you are right in what you're saying makes it even worse.

Good luck.

We will not make the 8 again. We will finish 9th, I'll put my house on it.

We'll leave our run late, win 6 out of the last 9 games or something like that but we will still miss out.

Then when we are mathematically no chance, we will go out and belt whoever we are playing in round 24, the media will wax lyrical about our fantastic, attacking, entertaining football, they'll laud supercoach as a genius despite 13 out of 14 years of pure sh*t and the bright sparks that matter will offer the great man another shiny new contract on the back of another year of failure.

5 Grand Finals, 4 Premierships... yep, an absolute nuffy.
The team he had in the 90's with the Raiders is still the best club side I've ever seen and would probably beat the Kangaroo team that just got named. A blind monkey, or even could've coached a team containing Meninga, Stuart, Mullins, Daley, Croker, Furner, Walters, Clyde, Lazarus, Nagas, Nadruku, etc.
I'll be very surprised if we ever see a squad like that again.

I feel sorry for Tigers fans having to put up with his sh*t. He has been the biggest myth of a coach since 1996.
As for "He has 4 premierships" well remember the Raiders were found to have broken the salary cap and by a fair margin back in 1991.
Sheens is a joke of a coach and hope to god the tigers fail to make the 8 AGAIN so he can hopefully be put under the blowtorch by the media....just like how Brian Smith, Nathan Brown and even Wayne Bennett were when they failed.

2010 the tigers had a real chance for a top four finish, the comp is not particularly strong and with the storm being rubbed out of contention we had our best chance since 2005. Than comes along Sheens with his madness again. Okay looses a key player for the season and a few of his logical replacements are on the injury list. So as in the past he starts the big shuffle, giving players different roles to play every second play, team cohesion goes out the window and the results reflect it. Of course their is his team selections and diabolical use of the interchange system.

Of course his participation in the work for the dole scheme by using Royce the gnome and Gentles as his left and right hand men is another hair brain idea.

But we reward the myth with another season. Thats me for the season on Sheens waste of time and effort nothing will ever change. Lets just pray son of big Kev was smart enough to put some minimum requirements for 2010 before he can take up his contract etenion for 2011,or maybe it was four wins

Very true, but the same argument can be run for Wayne Bennett, all his brisbane premierships were with a very good squad.

I'd argue that the Cows in the Sheens period, wouldn't have been any greater if coached by Bennett instead, an awful squad of players largely past it/not up to any other team's standard.

Do you think Bennett would get this current Tigers side to the 8 of a 16 team comp?

I'll agree with the guy who said be careful what you wish for.

There are worse coaches out there than Sheens.

I'm sick of this f**king piss poor excuse.

There is no-one better is there? No one who will play with 17 players instead of 15? No one who will not pick Fitzhenry in FG every week? No one who will not pick a winger on the bench to get a nice sun tan for 80 minutes? No one who will not make the same mistakes and repeat the same failed gameplans for five years running?

In the past five years we've gone through players, trainers and CEO's but the myth, his fat useless gnome sidekick and our piss poor results remain the same.

f**king wake up!

I know and that is a scary though.

Until last year Royce was in charge of defence and it was league worst basically.

This season Gentle is running defence and it is pretty tight.

Royce has moved to attacking coach and well the results have really been on display for a month or so now

Steve Folkes is the strength and conditioning coach at the Tigers, so he would surely be able to take over.

You were getting something different before Lui and Moltzen got injured.

Don't kid yourself - if Lui had not been injured then Moltzen and his 2m kick returns would still be at fullback.

Sheens is a stubborn old dinosaur, he will not change. Injuries are no excuse.
